No Wellington premiere for DOS!

Apparently this was just announced: no premiere this year in Wellington. Why not? This seems very odd, and rather a letdown. Weren't there Welly premieres for all three LOTR films? What a disappointment -- I was actually hoping to go this year.

About WB's handling of the marketing of the film for some time. This is one more example. I just don't think they "get" it. New Line clearly got it when they were part of AOL/Time Warner. WB, not so much. I mean I know it's not a major thing I guess overall but it's a sign that WB just doesn't get the whole deal in my opinion. They have held the fandom pretty much at arms length. This is one more example of that to me. Oh well.

Only one of the 3 LotR premieres was in Wellington. Most of the money and the press are in places like LA, NY, and London. Apparently the contract called for one premiere in NZ, and that was it.

for DOS and TABA - they just won't be world premiers. I expect they'll be very much like they were for FOTR and TTT.

after PJ got one of NewLine's senior managers (name blank! Help!) up on stage in front of live cameras at the Two Towers' New Zealand premier and asked him where the world premier for Return of the King would be - a with an obvious hint that it should be Wellington. How could the NewLine guy say anything but 'Wellington'? After all of that died down, there were news stories about how NewLine told Wellington City Council that any world premier would require a number of things to be done on their part - including, from memory, having the Embassy Theatre brought up to par. (Or was that done earlier?)

I did not know that or had forgotten. I just assumed because they did up the theater for each one that they had each WP down there. Well, I hope they at least keep that tradition because its so wonderful of an event to see.
