The Hobbit books selling well in the US

I've just had a look at Locus (a US SF/F magazine) and its bestseller books list in March. The Hobbit ranks second for both hard covers and paperbacks (and has improved its placing on both lists from February), and has remained in first place for trade paperbacks. On the media-related list, Hobbit-themed books hold first and second place (Art & Design, by Daniel Falconer; and AUJ Visual Companion, by Jude Fisher). It's great to see the movie is not only generating so much interest in the original material, but that the interest is still growing month by month. :) Has anyone here bought another copy of The Hobbit or related books since seeing the film?
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. Glad to see it doing so well. I really can't see myself buying anymore Tolkien related material in the near future; I already have two full shelves devoted to him!

AS THEY SHOULD BE! I think that even if the Tolkien Estate has its reservations about The Hobbit and LotR being made into film, they MUST be ratified in knowing that they've brought (now) 2 generations (over a 10-year spread) to reading. From 2001 to 2013+... I wonder how many people have discovered the joy of reading because of Jackson's adaptations? Very Cool Stuff! Yeah, I've gotten a few books because of The Hobbit film. Hobbit/Lord of the Rings movie tie-in boxed set The Hobbit: History of boxed set The Hobbit: Unexpected Journey Chronicles I & II The Hobbit paperback (film related) with Bilbo on the cover The Hobbit [Special Collector's Edition-UK] pbk (trees on cover) The Hobbit [UK/Aus/NZ] pbk with Bilbo/Frodo in a tattered cloak leaving Bag End on the cover The Hobbit Unexpected Journey Visual Companion The Hobbit Unexpected Journey Official Movie Guide The Hobbit Unexpected Journey Movie Storybook The Hobbit Unexpected Journey Activity Book The Hobbit (small leatherette version-gold edging gilded) Hobbits: The Many Lives of Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, Merry & Pippin by Lynette Porter Also a calendar, some magazines, dvd, and the soundtrack :)
4th draft of TH:AUJ Geeky Observation List - May 1, 2013 "There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West." I'm SO HAPPY these new films take me back to that magical world!! TIME Google Calendar TORn's Geeky Observations Lists (updated soon)

This beautiful book was gifted to me by my boss who was in a bookstore in the village and saw it on SALE - it had a corner bump (hardly recognizable) - but it was extraordinarily discounted. When I was watching Ringers - LoTF, they mentioned the decline in book sales before the LoTR came out, and we know how that turned out after the movies - we might not have had so many awesome Tolkien related publications. Now the Hobbit is following in the LoTR footsteps. I think its fantastic!

... even if one hated AUJ (I sure did not), this is a positive side-effect for us all :) Cheers to the Professor!
“A dragon is no idle fancy. Whatever may be his origins, in fact or invention, the dragon in legend is a potent creation of men’s imagination, richer in significance than his barrow is in gold.” J.R.R. Tolkien Words of wisdom that should be remembered - both by critics, purists and anyone in between.

That's a very positive outcome of the films, people wants to know the original book story of J.R.R Tolkien. I am not surprised by this increase of sellings and hopefully it will bring some new member here to discuss this wonderful world.

Happiness: money matters, but less than we think and not in the way that we think. Family is important and so are friends, while envy is toxic -- and so is excessive thinking. Beaches are optional. Trust is not. Neither is gratitude. - The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner as summarized by Lily Fairbairn. And a bit of the Hobbit reading thrown in never hurts. - NottaSackville

There's just one dwarf in front of Thranduil, so likely our surly leader.
