I'm rereading the series and this doesn't ring a bell - although it's entirely possible that I'm wrong.

The advantage of the crossbow in medieval times was that it didn't require much training to be able to use. An old-fashioned longbowman was much more effective in every way, but he required much more training.

...I'd also like a dagger or some other sort of knife (or knives) to go with my sword, please, preferrably something that can be hidden in a boot or something like that. I like to be well-armed.

Isn't that the reason the English longbow was so successful against the French crossbow in its day?//

Well, I love all my blades but I also love a long bladed spear, sort of like Bifur's. Very field practical. Ideally I would want a medium weigth crossbow for distance, spear for mid-quarters and my ninjato as last resort. And some stars on my belt. Fun question! Thanks!

... can I please keep my foil? It's the only weapon I ever mastered. Well... sort of, at least Or if I must I'll make do with an epee.

However, I must admit it's been some time since I last picked up a weapon. The local club's training times don't work for me, unfortunately.

and back when i played AD&D, the bow was always my go to weapon, so i chose bow. But i was tempted to choose crossbow, because Darryl looks so bad a** with his on The Walking Dead.

I LOVE swords, but somehow they can't contend with a bow and a quiver of arrows at your back! I love all the Elven archers (Legolas, Kili, Beleg Cuthalion, I'm anticipating Tauriel, etc), I used to really like Susan (from Narnia), I haven't seen Brave yet (alas!) but the archery in there looks cool, Katniss (Hunger Games) is pretty nifty with a bow(at least from the books, still haven't seen the movie) and so is Gale (also Hunger Games) and Hawkeye from the Avengers is awesome with his bow. Can anybody tell that I LOVE archery? Alas, though, I've been unable to take any type of archery lessons, but I'm hoping to find a place to take them this summer!
