The Hobbit premiere injected $12 million into the Wellington economy. Can't Post

As reported by The New Zealand Herald.

"We know that it's a direct contribution of nearly $10 million to Wellington, and an additional $2 million spent by others in and around the premiere," Coughlin said.

The link also has some nice statistics on the demographics of who attended the premiere.

Well done Wellington. Smile

Edit: Whoops. This is probably better off in Main. Blush

And done. :) / [In reply to] Can't Post

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

$3 each [In reply to] Can't Post

For a population of 4 million, that works out to $3 per person, which is pretty good for a single event.
