I'm running behind (and on empty), but here's another article for those of us interested in the costumes: Yarn Fit for a Hobbit. The knitter's full name -- Beverly Francis -- and a link to her blog can be found in the Comments section.

When I first saw the movie I was really impressed by the beautiful knitted pieces, particularly Ori's vest and Gandalf's silver scarf. It was interesting to read about how the yarn was created, and the fact that so many of the items were knitted by hand. Do you suppose there will ever be a pattern book for Middle Earth knits? I'd certainly buy one, even though I'm knot exactly an expert in needlework. (pun intended)
