it specifically says (here: http://www.danielreeve.co.nz/archive2.php) under a banner containing the drawing of young Bilbo, "Work by Graphic Artist, Daniel Reeve, is featured throughout the film - a few examples (but by no means all) are shown above." That's definitive enough for me. By the way, a meeting with Daniel Reeve was was part of The Lord of the Rings Movie Location Tour with Red Carpet Tours. Like most Kiwis, he seemed to be an exceptionally pleasant person. Even gave us all a small sample of his calligraphy. Absolutely lovely person.

I, too, met Daniel Reeve on a Red Carpet tour. An absolutely delightful and exceedingly pleasant person---as well as a very talented artist!

of New Zealand of MiddleEarth in person. But I haven't the things you've linked to. I shall have to take a peek!

As you can see by my grin when I had my photo taken with Daniel and his copy of it I'm pointing to my own name in the margin.
My own copy of the map is hanging on the wall beside me at this very moment.

That's wonderful! He was so amazingly friendly and great to work with. And his story is one that I find so inspirational. How he had his ordinary life and ordinary job, and just followed his heart with his LOTR calligraphy in his own time all those years, and then one day (like Gandalf in reverse, sort of, lol), he sent out his work to the film makers, and poof, his whole life changed in such a remarkable way. And he *so* deserves it - he is immensely talented. That's a great photo :-). And btw, I just peeked at my map and I see your name is only two names away from mine, lol !!

My daughter had never really paid attention to Mom's obession about LOTR but the Hobbit has grabbed her attention and she finally made the connection between the map in the Chronicles book and the one hanging on my wall.

...is really a nice guy. I interviewed him for our Russian site once when he was in Germany for the RingCon. I got him to sign my Shire map from Decipher. :)

TH got my daughter's attention too - so she finally asked me if "that map on the wall' is a map of LOTR (i.e, Middle-earth). So I tried to explain 'it sort of is, but not really' ... and then realized it is a little tough to explain to someone outside of the boards, exactly what it *is* a map of !
