Would also be interested in knowing what is happening between Thorin and Fili in that still shot we keep seeing of them behind that boulder.

Ya know it would save us a lot of time if we knew how they were going to handle this backstory.

Bilbo in Rivendell for sure...

Bilbo all but disappears from the film from the trollshaws, until his talk with Bofur in the cave. Besides a line here or there, he drops out of the story significantly and it really hurts the film for me. Bilbo is supposed to be entranced by Rivendell, but I didn't get that feeling at all in the film. I'm hoping some extra scenes with him there will fix this.

Without his scene with Narsil and Elrond, the stop at Rivendell becomes completely focused on Gandalf and Thorin. Not to mention the shot of him on the bridge looking up is one of my favorite shots... I really missed seeing it.

"I have found it is in the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk, that keep the darkness at bay. Simple acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because I am afraid, and he gives me courage." - Gandalf the Grey. "Do not be afraid Mithrandir. You are not alone. If ever you should need my help, I will come." -Lady Galadriel.

When Bilbo is in the cave, I felt like, "Oh yeah! He's in the story too!" Everything before Rivendell and after the Stone Giants is great for Bilbo though! Can't wait for the EE! I was wondering though, is it possible they won't release one? I read on one site that they were "tentatively" planning on releasing one this year.

So I imagine it's already a done deal or they'd not have spent the time and effort to assemble it.
There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple, too. And up in the nursery an absurd little bird is popping out to say coo-coo (coo-coo, coo-coo).

Remember, all the footage for the documentaries is already shot, and likely all the commentaries recorded. All that's left to do is to put it all together, or, more likely at this point, put the finishing touches on everything.
