How do you eat your apple? Can't Post

A funny poll inspired by one of DanielLB's comments in Gramma's (mega-awesome) geeky observations thread on the Hobbit boards Wink

I personally eat the whole thing, just not the stick hehe

It depends on the type of apple [In reply to] Can't Post

Cortlands or MacIntosh generally, if they are very sweet and softish, I'll eat every bit of flesh leaving only the seeds and the husk around the seeds.

Slices [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't eat them unless I cut them into slices. And I definitely don't eat the core or seeds.

It's the same with cheese; I can't eat it unless it's in thin slices. I hate chunks.

If I have time [In reply to] Can't Post

I cut it up and savour it. I especially like to eat an apple with some nice sharp cheddar.
I've never been keen on eating the core, but I do have very fond memories of my mother cutting apples in half for me so that the core looked like a star or flower in the middle, and then I would eat around it.
My favourites are Granny Smith, Eve, and Royal Gala.
It's definitely an apple a day for me.

Sometimes you get those apples where the stalk is cemented in [In reply to] Can't Post

Instead of wasting energy trying to force it out ... I'll just eat the entire thing. Laugh

Not often mind. They're not very tasty.

But then I'm the sort of person that likes to suck citrus fruits.

Very important poll! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm like you: I usually eat the whole apples except for the stem. People usually think this is odd.

Sliced. [In reply to] Can't Post

I like to slice an apple into quarters, then cut out the core, and then sometimes spread chunky peanut butter on each quarter! Yum!

What about [In reply to] Can't Post

peeling it? I always peel it, and then either eat it that way or sometimes use a corer, which really gets you all the apple except just a skinny cylinder along the core.
I don't think I'd ever eat the core. Not sure what the appeal is there. Or should I say the a peel..... ? lol Wink.

the same could be said for peeling it - whats the attraction? [In reply to] Can't Post

all the goodness is there and it gives some crunch. As for the core - more fiber and just generally less wasteful. For me as well sometimes if i am busy, eating the core is out of laziness - cant be bothered to go to the bin to put the core in, lol.

But surely [In reply to] Can't Post

if you need to peel it, it can't be a very good apple to start with? So much of the flavour is in the peel.

depends [In reply to] Can't Post

I used to eat them whole, taking bites, and leaving the core. I almost always salt my apples.

Every once in awhile I would cut them into wedges, removing the core in the cutting process. Mostly this would be if I were serving or sharing them. Or if I were dipping them into caramel.

I still eat small chestnut crabapples whole, leaving the core sometimes. They're so small, sometimes it's not worth biting around the tiny core so I just eat it.

But most apples we buy are too large for me to eat a whole one these days. My husband cuts large apples in half for his lunch so I'll grab one of those halves, use a spoon to core it out, salt it and eat it.

I also eat them sauced, baked, in a pie, and as cider! :-)

I think if it were i wouldn't be so overweight, lol. Though i guess it does depend on the size of the apple. We talking grapefruit sized apples? lol.

The apples i get are a little smaller than my fist.

I didn't know people did that. Do you only do that with some types of apples? Does it depend on how sweet/tart they are?
