'Female First' magazine gives TH: AUJ fourth place for 2012 Can't Post

Online magazine Female First is counting down its 'Best Movies of 2012', and today it revealed that it has The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey at the number four spot.  They call it 'an utter triumph ... a film with real heart'; which makes one wonder, what could have beaten it and claimed the first, second and third spots?  You can read their article - and see the top ten so far, plus the winning three films on future days - here.  What would be your top ten of 2012?  Would An Unexpected Journey snag the number one position?

prominent 2012 movies [In reply to] Can't Post

The only movie I might rate ahead of AUJ that I have seen would be "Skyfall", which I really enjoyed, and which I felt was an outstanding Bond with unusually good acting performances for that franchise. I like Craig in all of his, and Judy Dench was given more to do than usual in this one, and was fantastic. I can imagine others might put this year's Batman and Avengers entries ahead too (but I wouldn't, though I saw both). Then there are serious, critically acclaimed movies like "Lincoln" (which I have not seen - I rarely go for those, there is always DVD...).

i used to watch a ton of movies in the cinema [In reply to] Can't Post

but since getting married three years ago i've had to focus on just watching the ones i'm really interested in. this year my top 5 would probably be:

1. The Master
2. The Hobbit
3. The Dark Knight Rises
4. Looper
5. The Hunger Games

interested to see Zero Dark Thirty when i can. also am a huge Les Mis fan but not sure if i will make it to the theater for that one. pretty great year for genre movies even if i didn't like The Avengers half as much as the rest of the world seemed to.

somewhat more in line with the OP, i think it's great that a movie like The Hobbit, which has all of five minutes of screentime for a female presence, can get high praise from an online magazine called "Female First."
