a word about the carroc Can't Post

Third time viewingWink and i noticed that the top of the carroc with any doubt has the shape of a bear's head in that last shot of the company that is similar to the lion king (lol). Cool. Sorry if this has been postedTongue

The Dwarven King - coming soon from Disney! [In reply to] Can't Post

Thorin: Look, Fili and Kili. Everything the light touches...that was our kingdom. A king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with one of you as the new King Under the Mountain.

Kili: Everything the light touches? What about that shadowy place? (points to Mirkwood)

Thorin: (scowls) That is beyond our borders.

I LOVE the Carrock! [In reply to] Can't Post

It's absolutely brilliant! I think it's subtle enough for those who don't know who Beorn is, but obvious enough for those who do. Definitely one of the best parts of the film!

Thanks for getting a picture of it, Thoromir Smile

That's funny [In reply to] Can't Post

Because when I saw the film I thought the vertical outcropping of rock behind where they looked out on the carroc looked sort of like an eagle.

Will they make that Beorn's home? [In reply to] Can't Post

There are steps leading up to the landing area from the bear mouth as well, so if it isn't his home it could at least be some sort of hunting outpost of his.

And will they meet him there at the begninning of DoS?

I got my chronicles book yesterday [In reply to] Can't Post

, the arist really tried to make it look like a bears head and in the text they say that they Beorn carved it.
The book is really a great treat and there are even some details about the Nazgul tombs (hehe I know how they look like now;) and they are not in Dol Guldor).
When I have time to browse through it later after work I'll open a new thread to discuss the book.

Yes, the Chapter "Over Hill" [In reply to] Can't Post

in the Weta Chronicles follows on after "A Short Rest" (Rivendell) and begins: While Gandalf seeks answers beneath the mountains, Thorin tries to lead his company over them..."

It continues "...Gandalf's journey of discovery also brought with it the opportunity to explore an environment not visited in the books, but unquestionably Tolkien in nature: The High Fells, tombs of the undead servants of Sauron, the Nazgul."

Couldn't be further from Tolkien Laugh but I've gotten used to the idea and definitely wanted to see the scene. I'm banking on it being in the EE.

Meh [In reply to] Can't Post

I wouldn't mind seeing the scene in EE, but I see no reason for it in DoS. I'd rather he just go do some cool stuff while the party stumbles through Mirkwood.

Wow - great catch! // [In reply to] Can't Post

Happiness: money matters, but less than we think and not in the way that we think. Family is important and so are friends, while envy is toxic -- and so is excessive thinking. Beaches are optional. Trust is not. Neither is gratitude. - The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner as summarized by Lily Fairbairn. And a bit of the Hobbit reading thrown in never hurts. - NottaSackville
