I am pretty sure it will get the following noms: Best Visual Effects (losing to Life of Pi) Best Make-Up (losing to Les Mis) Best Art Direction (losing to Les Mis or Life of Pi) Best Costume Design (losing to Les Mis) and maybe Best Cinematography Best Editing (although I doubt both) I do not think it will win any or get any major noms for various reasons: the reviews, the genre itself, the lighter tone, the feeling that they gave fantasy, PJ & Co enough credit with LotR. I personally loved the movie and would be happy for a few Oscars - but I also have no problem with AUJ not being a Oscar buzz movie. It may be too much of a fan movie for that (thank God!). If the audience response keeps this high level for DOS and TABA, I could see DOS already winning some more and TABA even competing in the Best Picture category (with the added drama, the emotions and the politics of that part).

Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen there are two more films, so there's plenty of chance.
