The Hobbit Nominated for 4 Critics Choice Awards (not the big ones, sorry)

I know most of us would have loved AUJ to feature heavily in the awards this year, but it just wasn't all that likely to happen given RotK's massive victory in 2003. But it looks like the film may yet get a little attention this year, albeit in the technical categories. :) http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/...incoln-400446?page=2 4 Nominations: Best Art Direction - Dan Hennah/Production Designer; Ra Vincent & Simon Bright/Set Decorators Best Costume Design - Bob Buck, Ann Maskrey and Richard Taylor Best Make-up Best Visual Effects
"All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds awake to find that it was vanity; But the dreamers of day are dangerous men. That they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible." - T.E. Lawrence

the only thing i'm surprised by is no nomination for cinematography. perhaps the HFR was too distracting in that regard because from what i've seen and read, Lesnie knocked it out of the park once again.

And if anything, the film does *deserve* to win those 4 awards. Like ROTK, I think TABA will be a lot more successful award-wise.

... though I agree, I'm sure Lesnie deserved a Cinematography nomination (though to be completely honest, I haven't seen the film yet)

I think that AUJ came out too late in the awards season to have any real attention, plus this year is just crammed with unbelievable movies. DOS will probably earn many more, just because, IMO, the really compelling stuff will be in DOS AND TABA, just Smaug alone should be fabulous and garner much of the attention. The no-nomination for the cinematography however is a travesty, I think that the HFR stuff really hurt it (I mean, come on, Zero Dark Thirty looks well shot and already a few awards for cinematography, but choosing this over The Hobbit, lol......). Which makes me angry because I want to say to all of those saying the HFR ruined their viewing of AUJ: Just go see it in 24 fps, and stop bothering everyone.
