With the release of the Hobbit just around the corner next week, the Hobbit forum is being flooded with all sorts of spoilers. I know of at least a few of us who are trying to avoid spoiling the entire film, so we've given up the forum until we've seen it. So this thread is for everyone fleeing from the last round of spoilers.
Talk about whatever you want - when you're planning to see the film, what version you're planning to see, or just you horror stories from quitting spoilers cold turkey!

but I've been able to avoid spoiler for the most part. Except tonight, I saw a picture of one of the trolls (and did it scare the h*** out of me  *shudders*) I can hardly wait, just one more week to go, and hopefully I'll see it soon. Stay safe to everyone who is also avoiding spoilers!

I quit the Hobbit forum six or eight weeks ago, I think. So far, according to the stats I see on my directory page, I've missed 893 new threads, and about 25000 new posts. "Miss" is a technical term, of course, in this context; it wasn't until afterwards that I realized how much the general atmosphere was stressing me out. But that's just me; I know how many people have been enjoying the run-up to this first film of the Hobbit trilogy. Gah...I just realized that "trilogy" has become a creepy-crawly word in my head.
Gee, I never thought about the problem of spoilers!

spoilers for the most part. But now that the review embargo lifted, I am getting out of there. It was fine when we were getting bits and pieces of spoilers, but now that people have seen the whole finished film, I do not want to know scene-by-scene or even huge chunks of the film.
Can't wait to see it! Then I'll be able to rejoin the throng

I've actually really joined in the discussions. It's been nice actually getting into the thick of it. But like I was saying to Ziggy, I just don't want the finished film being recounted to me scene-by-scene.
Goodness, though, I couldn't have left six weeks ago. I've only been gone like one day and although I've only missed 25 threads and 600 posts, it's killing me not joining in. It feels like some big secret that I've been excluded from, lol 
I'm looking forward to rejoining on the 14th! I'm sure speculation will already be rampant for DOS.

Great idea!
I avoid all but the tiniest of spoilers. I'm even avoiding most trailers this time (which I did not do last time--watched' 'em all, but avoided other sorts of info.)
I'll be seeing it in 2D first, and I would really like to have someone tell me if it looked good in 2D without actually telling me anything about the movie! May be overly wishful thinking . . .

I'm actually supposed to be studying for my exit test from nursing school. It's next Monday. Then, once that's over, Wednesday is practicing for graduation and Thursday evening is the graduation. And after that is the midnight premiere!

I felt we needed a place to help each other over the next week.
I've actually watched most of the previews and trailers, and seen or heard most other spoilers, but like I was saying earlier, now that people have seen the whole finished film, I had to get out. Those are the major spoilers and I do not want to know them.
I'll be seeing it in 2D 24fps the first time as well. I don't want to be distracted by the glitz and glam the first time. I just want to see The Hobbit.

Avoiding details as much as possible. I live for spoilers when they are trickling in at a tantalizingly slow rate. I don't see how a scene by scene description is necessary for a critique of a film. I guess reviewers are taking the word review too literally.

Being an Australian is pretty horrible when it comes to release dates.
We had to wait a month for tintin, and from November to January for the Muppets. :(

I don't know how you're going to make it! Three weeks is an awfully long time, especially since no one else seems to have to wait that long. Any idea why it's like that?

I have no idea.
I think it might have something to do with peak movie watching times- you guys in the USA have a big Thanksgiving weekend for kid/family movies- for us that's January, when it's school holidays, the kids are ratty because it's so hot, and you just want to get them somewhere air conditioned where they will be quiet for 90 minutes.
And December 26 is another 'blockbuster' time, for the same kinds of reasons- family holiday, warm weather. Still, there are OTHER films that get released Dec 14 here, so I think is is partially just to spite us and our pesky unions. :)

I don't want to be spoiled by any details from the film anymore. 7 more days is doable, I am actually in awe how fast the last few months have gone by. I do still scour the threads for interviews and TV appearances and such.

Completely slipped my mind. You mentioned school holidays in January. How long does that last? Do you have a three month break like here in the USA?
I guess if blockbuster time is after Christmas, it makes sense to release it then. That just stinks, though

I'd still be in the Hobbit forum, but it's just too easy to stumble on one spoiler here and another there. Or you're reading something you think won't have spoilers and *wham* there's something huge in there. Better just to avoid them for now.
I think I can wait nine more days. But I am itching to get back to speculation! I'm so glad we have another couple of years of that.

I didn't mind the spoilers at all and delighted in them. The tiny glimpse of Smaug was perfect! And I listened to the soundtrack four times - more than I expected I would, to be honest, but I don't feel I'll enjoy the movie less because of it. I even looked at the leaked scans from the art book!
I loved discussing, or reading other people discuss, all the stuff we knew and speculating on how it'd go. I do miss that and it's frustrating not being able to read it anymore. But it's not really speculation now - it's revelation. The mystery is gone. I don't want detailed descriptions of the finished film. That was starting to literally "spoil" the movie for me, so I had to stop, and Ardamírë pretty much jumped out right with me.
Just eight and a half days till The Hobbit... we can make it!
I'm not watching the 5 or 6 minutes of clips from the movie. I want to see them in context. I tried reading one of the spoiler-free reviews on the front page of TORN, but even that was too much after a paragraph or so. I am hugely excited for this movie and nothing's gonna change that.
all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us...

I'm planning a birding trip with a friend of mine for January and I got financial stuff I need to take care of. Plus, I have to complete two poems for Secret Santa art trades by the end of the month! And I got more writing I want to do besides that in return for some great art gifts I received recently.
I've also been watching some classic Dr Whos with a friend who mostly had just seen the "new" Doctor Who. We started with City of Death, then went back and watched the Key to Time series, and have continued on from there. Just finished Nightmare of Eden last night. The drug hysteria of the 70s and 80s is pretty hillarious from today's perspective! It's also a real shame that Romana I lasted only one season. She was actually a great companion. Romana II has to be one of the worst. Oy. It's pretty much like Flowers for Algernon given all the intelligence she lost when she regenerated. Plus her spine. Can't wait to get some new companions in E-Space. Looking forward to seeing how my friend reacts to Logopolis.
And I also finally watched The Life of Birds. I only started getting really interested in birds a couple years ago, so I'm still learning a lot. Had fun following a Pileated Woodpecker around a forest near where I live over the weekend.

That's a good way of putting it. It really has moved beyond speculation to just being flat out told how the movie plays out. And I don't want that. It's one of the reasons that I'm not watching the clips either. I didn't watch the one from last week, and I won't watch these.
Daniel and Ataahua have both said nothing too spoilery is happening in there right now, but I know that's going to change in the next week. People will be dropping spoiler bombs everywhere, especially after the film opens on the 12 for some people. It's much easier to just get out now and avoid it all.
I'm glad other people feel the same! I'm sure we'll be doing this again next year and the year after

Let's talk some Hobbit! Anyone who is reading the reviews and descriptions of th movie, please do NOT participate. Thanks!
I'm really looking forward to Radagast. I absolutely am thrilled with his design and think he's going to be awesome. Plus, it's kinda like a whole new story since he wasn't in the book and I have no idea how it'll turn out! Sometimes, I don't enjoy the truly iconic scenes like Eowyn killing the Witchking or Gollum and Frodo at Mt Doom quite as much because I have replayed them in my head so many times, there's little left for the film to fill in. I'm worried that Riddles in the Dark will be the same way. I do love Andy Serkis's Gollum, however, so I'm still looking forward to it,
I'm also really excited about Thorin and seeing how he turns out. Well, not as excited as some of the ladies here, I suppose, but I find the character fascinating and I'm looking forward to seeing someone who isn't so one-sidedly good or evil. I love tragic heroes and I'm betting Thorin will be a great one. Everything I've seen from Richard Armitage tells me he's up to the task, even though I'm not really familiar with his other work.
Also hugely looking forward to seeing how the dwarven history and dwarven society (women and all that) turn out on screen. Tolkien didn't flesh this stuff out too much, so I guess that's kina like the Radagast storyline - it should be all new.
I'm also hugely looking forward to seeing the Eagles, weirdly enough. In the last tv spot I watched before I gave them up, there was a mind-blowingly beautiful shot of the eagles that I want to see on the big screen reallly bad!
