I'm not really sure if this reviewer even liked the film. It's not very in-depth, but it's something. Another comparison to BBC tv in regards to the 48fps.

It's really funny how you're mental picture of a film differs from the actual film. I re watched FOTR recently and realized that, even though the film is awesome, my mental pciture of it differs greatly from the actual film.
When looking back on a film, you tend to generalize it in your head to fit the atmosphere that you felt while watching it. I realized that FOTR doesn't even live up to my own personal rendering of it. It's made me expect much less of The Hobbit in a good way.

too sharp, too much details, too videogamish.
this is not the path that cinema should go. i'm sorry, but i will watch the Hobbit in 2D and rather on 35mm....but thats not possible :-(

For me, the sharper the better.
A minimum quality of HD / Bluray is what I need, I cannot look at old movies anymore due to the poor image quality, it drives me nuts.
Looking forward to 48 fps!

how one can say it's not the path for cinema if you havent seen how it looks with your own eyes.
Why is his opinion worth more than all the others that have loved the look of 48fps?
I disagree with the fact that the eye of the viewer should be controlled by out-of-focus elements. For me, the whole point of 3D is to be able to look to the part of the screen that interests you at the moment. I mean in the real world you can focus on everything as well, so why not in the cinema as well?
Besides, i'm sure you can still find some small cinema somewhere who still project 2D on 35mm somewhere...

More than anything. And he's also just opposed to seeing a 3-film Hobbit story, regardless of the content.

I think reviewers should review the film story/acting/production-value-wise than disliking it because of it being a trilogy and the 48 FPS thing. I think critics who detested the 48 FPS should rewatch it in 2D 24 fps and then see how it turned out for them. I don't want all these reviews crying/praising the 48 fps. I wanna know how the actors did, how well the story played out, how the costumes and weapons looked.

Completely agree with you, Lordy. I want here to hear how they rate the acting, the storyline etc. I fear though it'll be an after-thought in their reviews.

Scared of progression. One day you will look back and realize.
However. I agree that jumping to conlclusions based on one negative review amidst hundreds of positive reviews is a bit silly.
