I can't remember if I've even seen an interview where Martin isn't dropping F-bombs like a sailor.
I personally find it hysterical and can relate to it, but I never expect it coming from such a harmless-looking man

I don't think that Armitage is so much shy as modest. He was asked about being a hot dwarf during at least three or four interviews at the premiere and side-stepped it every time, as here.
Interviewer: You're a hot dwarf.
RA: Yes, we were all hot with all that padding on.
Serkis: (laughing) She didn't mean that sort of "hot".
RA: (sighing) I know.
They then continue to tease him. At the Japan Premiere, MF says that RA is the most modest actor he has ever come across.

I agree , hes more modest than shy yes. An excellent quality for an actor and a rare one, since most are just so full of themselves.
