SFX (#229) has gone on sale this week, and has new content on the upcoming films. Not sure how we all missed it. Here's the link to their website. I'll be picking one up this afternoon.

It amazes me that it's been used as much as it has. If I would have taken that picture, my first reaction would be "Hahah, that made you look really creepy lets do another one"
"You're love of the halflings leaf has clearly slowed your mind"

Is that the Dwarves sacked out near Goblin-town? BTW, even this article opens with asking if PJ and Co. are making "risky creative decisions". They've made everyone nervous.
My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit" 5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck 4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot 3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan 2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate 1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

He just looks mischievous, golly gee wiz.
-Tim came by. Tim! If you had heard only a quarter of what I have heard about him, and I have only heard very little of all there is to hear, you would be prepared for any sort of remarkable tale.

But I have no idea what's going on in it. Why is everyone knocked out? And why does Bilbo look like he's sneaking away?

Perhaps he's sneaking up to the crack on the back wall of the cave?

It's also a behind the scene shot, rather than a screen capture.

If so, it doesn't bother me. If not, I'm completely confused.

The basic answer was no. And apart from that, all it says is they try to strike a balance between what Tolkien wrote, and everything else (Gandalf's absence etc.) Really very little to report on.

It seems that Bilbo will avoid capture by the goblins, sneak into the tunnels, be spotted by a goblin who gets into that sword-exchange with him, followed by Bilbo and the goblin tumbling down, down down into Gollum's cave. The dwarves' fight with the Great Goblin will then happen simultaneously with Riddles in the Dark. Bilbo will later meet the company outside, and Thorin will accuse him of having bailed out on them when they were most in need.

But yes, Riddles/Goblin-town has had things shifted around and added based on recent info, ETC. Seems like there's going to be as much new/expanded material as there is material from the book in the film, so we'll see how it's balanced narrativly/thematically.

I didn't think there would be any straight answers, but thanks for letting me know. The basic answer was no. And apart from that, all it says is they try to strike a balance between what Tolkien wrote, and everything else (Gandalf's absence etc.) Really very little to report on. "Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!" "Do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."
