The German Online Shop Elbenwald released preview pictures of the 2013 Hobbit Calendar on their website. Most of them are old ones but there are some new of Mirkwood, Radagast and the dwarves. You can find them here: http://www.elbenwald.de/...L-Kalender-2013.html Click on the small ones to enlarge them. Some of them may contain minor spoilers.

...more Nazgul tombs, actually, particularly the lower left image!

Almost every shot in this calendar looks too bright, too pale, they look all the same. I don't think these are finalized screenshots, so no worries about mirkwood, it will become darker

Mirkwood is in 2nd film, they take the barrels to Mirkwood. Yes, and no. They escape Mirkwood and the Woodland Realm in the barrels.

I've seen the calendar in a bookshop in Germany a couple of weeks ago. The pictures are darker than they look here.

PJ/Andrew Lesnie also have a tendency to over-light things

Shelob's Lair comes to mind as a scene that's too bright. Don't get me wrong, Middle-earth looks great overall, but they could take a page out of Roger Deakins' book of cinematography when it comes to shadows.

than not have the faintest idea what's going on, which is far too common in movies and TV these days.

I'm glad to see that made it in...well into film two anyway.
