something which Annael brought up and is definitely true. You wont have two cats that are alike, just as two golden retrievers are completely alike. A lot of this is the personality of the animal but also socialisation of the animal. Any dog can be loving and caring if you socialise them to be just some dogs personality traits (defined by breed) are for a more loving (needy) dog.
Smaller dogs are usually more yappy as usually they are a terrier or were bread to be watchdogs as apposed to a guard dog.
Something interesting about goldens which i dont know if you ever experienced with your golden is they have whats called a soft mouth, so they can carry eggs long distances in their mouths without cracking them (as can other retrieving breeds).
I know what you mean about smaller dogs being more pesky though, always got to keep an eye on them to make sure they are not getting into mischief, lol.
I guess ultimately i feel like i am sharing my home and have an extra family member to a greater extent with a dog than a cat. After all dogs are man's best friend but i understand that not everyone has the time to dedicate to a dog - essentially a 2 year old baby and a cat can be a good option in those cases or if someone finds cats more interesting as the cat is slightly more wild?
One thing i have read is dog owners in the USA are more likely to have a degree than a cat owner. However the opposite is true in the UK with cat owners more likely to have the degree (potentially more intelligent?)
If you have a cat and a dog then you are covered wherever you go, lol.

Her name was Dr. Snuggles... called her Miss Snuggles once and she was all, "That's Doctor Snuggles. I didn't spend 9 years at cat college to be called 'Miss'" (of course all I heard was "meow, meow" etc.).

If not im afraid she was just a butcher :P
If she could then can i have a chat with her as my suturing skills are pretty poor, its like i have limited wrist mobility so she may be able to give pointers - what with having no thumb it must be tough!

preferring cadavers and such. I slept with one eye open the entire time she was in residence. 
(So you are training to be a doctor? How wonderful! I bet you have a great bedside manner.)

I am training to be a dentist or as some say failed doctor, lol.
I like to think i have good relationships/chair side manner - but you cant please everyone just try your best. I have found i have a fairly decent memory for remembering little facts about people which always helps in making them feel more special.
Personally i like to try and make things at least a tiny bit fun as im not so sure in US but over in the UK there are loads and loads of people who have genuine phobias about going to see the dentist.
I think its mainly from school dentists from years ago - they all seem to have been sadists and scarred people for life. I really like working with phobic patients and getting them to a point where they are no longer phobic.
I have actually worked with cadavers like your cat :P It was the first dead person i had ever seen - first week of uni, was a shock! I will remember the smell forever.
Is your cat is now professor of anatomists at meow university? lol.
Also if you dont mind - (thread is going off track anyway, lol,) what is your career?

My background is in cultural studies generally (hence my fascination with this fandom), with concentrations in drama, media/film production, visual arts and critical theory. By trade I am a certified (or certifiable, haven't decided yet) teacher, though currently I am unemployed. I feel called to ministry in social justice and lately I've been exploring prison ministry. My dream remains working behind the cameras in the film industry, on the conceptual or development side of the process. Being an assistant to a director would be a nice fit as well.
Yeah I'm pretty much all over the map...
