We are getting so close! I can't believe we're already talking about the soundtrack release. I absolutely cannot wait to hear Shore's work. It's the only part of the films I am 100% confident that I will love

I want to hear the music for the first time when I see the films. It would be distracting, I think, to already have heard all the music. I think the sneak we had in the teaser was enough to entice me. I shall contentedly wait until December the 14th to be blown away by Mr. Shore

I imagine that the special edition will sport a faux-leather case, the same as the s.e. LotR soundtracks. DanielLB wrote: This should probably go to the movie board? Or to 'Gaming & Collecting'.

Or to 'Gaming & Collecting'.
I thought it was pretty "big" news to warrant it being posted elsewhere. Not everyone checks the quieter boards.

I was unaware of that fact; I haven't gotten that far in the boards yet today.

Is it any more "confirmed" now than it was then?

The person who reported it to spymaster (and btw, I did too.. it's just that nothing got done with my report) pointed TORn to the same amazon web pages I pointed people too. Neither of us (nor TORn, from what I can read in the article) have any more info that what's on those pages. I just offered what else I knew, what I thought, and let people make their own judgement about whether the information was correct or not. The home page article acts as if it's all official and confirmed. Maybe it is. There has been no press release and Doug is not discussing it. So, to my mind, I don't know it is and I won't tell people it is. I guess it just points out how I operate. I like to think I'm being very upfront with the info I present. I want the reader to know what I know for sure, what I suspect, what I think, and clearly indicate in which of those area things fall. But I think it comes off as wishy washy to people and people are always more impressed with the definite, confident approach than the qualified, reserved approach. I want the soundtrack early but I am not clicking 'buy' on any of these offerings until I get more solid information about them. There has been, as I said in my thread, at least one suspicious looking listing that I think was trying to get people who want the score to click on 'buy' before they could find out it wasn't the Shore's score to Jackson's Hobbit. I don't actually think these amazon listings (the article pointed to) are fraudulent but why would I take the chance? There is no advantage to buying this early with this little information.

My little heart just did a cartwheel! OMG!! Okay... now... what I did with the LotR soundtracks was listen to the music, studied the track titles and close my eyes... pictured the story in my head. Now it will be with the faces and places planted by the images we've seen and locations so firmly planted in my mind... and my heart. Here we go... Here we go... Now it's getting close. Be still my cartwheeling heart! *twitch*

I may buy it just to get the dwarf theme tuneworm out of my head. Awesomely addictive.
'It is ever so with the things that Men begin: there is a frost in Spring, or a blight in Summer, and they fail of their promise.' ... '[Yet their seed] will lie in the dust and rot to spring up again in times and places unlooked-for.'

If I listen to the soundtrack beforehand, it'll just sound like generic movie music to me. After listening to the unused music on the complete recordings of LOTR, I realized that the film pretty much made the music, almost as much as the music made the film. The reason the music moves me is because it brings to my mind the lovely visuals, the characters, the places, the emotions, etc. So yeah, just like you, I too will wait until I've seen the movie to listen to the soundtrack. Though that's not to say I won't order it before...
