Hi everyone! I've been lurking around the site for a while now but figured it was time to join since I have some thing awesome to post about. I bought myself a ticket to the UK premiere of The Hobbit and I should be able to get three more if any of you are interested. I realise I'm a newbie so I'm not expecting any replies but since none of my (heathen) friends want to go I'd see if anyone on here wants to go along!

...it's this year's Royal Film Performance which is organised by the Cinema & Television Benevolent Fund so if you're a member of that you get access to buy tickets. They're a bit pricey but for me it's worth every penny!

Premiers in London are usually in Leicester Square

Harry Potter was special and got Trafalgar Square for the big red carpet, that lead all the way to Leicester Square. I went last year. It was good, but would have been more enjoyable if it didn't rain (I was just one of the screaming fans, not a ticket holder.)

I'm not sure if the tickets will go on sale to the public or not, this is all new to me. It is a lot of money but the CTBF is a charity so the money is going to a good cause and if you think about what film premieres are usually like it'll likely be pretty spectacular.

I don't have a ticket to the reception... yet. seems quite a lot of money for something that is only an hour and fifteen minutes. Although I am still tempted. Any information on if anyone interesting is going to be there? I'm more than happy to get a group of us meeting up though!

Please do a write-up of the reception and the movie afterwards, so that we can enjoy it vicariously?

I have not only seen the movie myself... I have also went home, gone to sleep, wake up, and eat breakfast, played Guild Wars 2 for several hours and been eating dinner! I find that thought very pleasing

For the others going to the reception/premiere I just spoke to someone at the CTBF and she said it's fine to take a camera along to get some photos, just not in the screening itself obviously. I didn't ask about autographs but I think it'll be easy to judge on the night whether it'll be appropriate or not.
