Great interview [In reply to] Can't Post

And he is full of positivity! Bit embarrassing the interviewer got his dates wrong! I would love to go on one of their tours - I bet it would be hilarious.

And happy birthday! Laugh

Great! Thank you for the link! [In reply to] Can't Post

I really enjoyed Mark Hadlow's clips from the vlogs...expecting Dori to be one of my favorite dwarves in the movies (along with Balin, Dwalin, and Gloin)

I wonder if he heard about the July release of film 3 [In reply to] Can't Post

And that's how he got the dates crossed. Makes me glad that we don't have to wait that long and that we only have two more months go! It is very exciting! Smile

Even if Dori isn't one of the "major" Dwarves, it still sounds like the "minor" ones have important roles. That's great!

And I'm glad to hear that Bilbo's arc stays intact in the films.

Awesome! (spoiler from interview) [In reply to] Can't Post

He helps Bilbo into the tree! It seems they are keeping almost every little detail from the books into the films! Smile Love to hear Mark Hadlow be so enthusiastic about these movies!

"He's quite fussy"...as in, he doesn't like to have Dwalin bashing his dinner? ;) [In reply to] Can't Post

Also, remember last year when Ian McKellan appeared during a fundraiser for a theater in NZ damaged by an earthquake, when of all the Dwarf actors, Mark showed up beside him?

Guess being a regular member of the PJ repertoire has its perks! Tongue

But I agree that the "minor" Dwarves will have well-defined personalities and positions within the company.

My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit"
5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck
4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot
3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan
2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate
1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

Two questions from second interview: [In reply to] Can't Post

He "didn't really" work with Hugo Weaving? Did they film some of the Dwarves at Elrond's table separately or something? Or perhaps Mark simply means Dori and Elrond don't exchange any dialogue.

Also, 99% of shooting took place in NZ? I wonder where the other 1% too place? Tongue

Based on the vlogs [In reply to] Can't Post

The scale doubles and Hugo Weaving were on the same set. The actors probably shot their scenes at a scaled up set without Weaving present.

Somewhere in England, anyway [In reply to] Can't Post

Christopher Lee isn't fit enough travel to NZ - therefore all his scenes must have been shot in England (if not actually in his house).

Mark Hadlow has a long history as part of the Chch theatre community [In reply to] Can't Post

At the Court Threatre, I believe. I'd guess his presence there was also a personal gesture.

Cool guy. I remember him playing RiffRaff in a 90s national tour of The Rocky Horror Show!
