What I meant was that, although I agree there's nothing wrong with having an epic type scene on the poster, it isn't necessary for the Hobbit, as that's not it's flavour - it's as much concerned with the homely comforts of food and drink and a warm fire than it is with large scale drama. The fun of the tale stems from the discomfort of Mr Baggins, and of not knowing what is lurking around the next corner/over the next hill/behind the trees or down the tunnel - it's more akin to a (mild) horror film, fright-wise, than a war epic. So, a picture of something dark and mysterious - such as Mirkwood, or a mountain cave with a little group of figures sheltering in it would suit it better than spectacular towers or mountains or armies.
