There's someone in the back row of the poster...second from the left. He's really out of place. Pretty sure he's not supposed to be there.

He isn't blended in well I agree, I also think he's the only dwarf not looking like one.

Hopefully, the Comic-Con motion posters or something very similar will see release as we draw closer to December (so many movies do character posters these days, but TH is a production that could really benefit from them)! Nice image of the collected Dwarves, however....Fili really, for the first time to me, is giving off a strong "Heir of Thorin" vibe there; but poor Bombur, I get the feeling he's going to have even less dignity than in the book!
My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit" 5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck 4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot 3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan 2. Use of not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, plus the inclusion of axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate 1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

Great poster! One to catch your attention amongst the more traditional ones. Also somehow very fairy tale-esque... that's how I like my TH! (Fili looks too small, though.)

Not too thrilled about that poster, either. Too photoshopped. Why don't they release a poster like this, which has that painterly quality to it? Much better.

Tell us more about how young dwarves should look like. Why are you asking me? Look at the other "young dwarves" in the poster. If you look at the poster and don't think he's way out of place, then there's no point in trying to convince you otherwise.

Oh well. At least I'll always have that incredible Gandalf poster. Also, Kili continues to stick out like a sore thumb. Someone should tell him he's posing for a Hobbit poster - not a Pantene Pro-V ad.

If you look at the poster and don't think he's way out of place, then there's no point in trying to convince you otherwise. Fili looks every bit as "human" as Kili does, he just has slightly more of a beard. Just look at pictures of Dean O'Gorman as he normally is and you can see they did very ,very little to his face. The only thing is he has a big nose, which he has in real life(he'd fit right in with the Stewards of Gondor:)), though I suppose they might have augmented it a tiny bit but it's not enough to make it obviously so, so unless you're saying that THE thing that makes for dwarfishness is a big nose, then I can't see how Fili looks any more dwarfish. There isn't anything more "dwarfish" about his features, whatever that means.

Most people will be drawn to him, I imagine. It's not the absence of a big bushy beard....there are other dwarves that do not have bushy beards in the poster, including the leader of the group.

OK well look at the guy next to him, Bofur, now imagine Bofur as young, what makes you think he looked anymore dwarfish? He doesn't have a big nose, bit exaggerated in it's turned uppedness but not outlandishly so, and he doesn't really have a beard either. So imagine Bofur as a young man, aside from perhaps being somewhat less goodlooking, how would he have looked more dwarflike than Kili does? In fact how does he really look more dwarflike now? He seems to be relatively slender, doesn't have excessive facial hair, doesn't have a long large nose. It's because they don't, Kili's the youngest, he's got the least facial hair, but he doesn't look any less like a dwarf in his actual facial features than his brother, his uncle or the guy they stuck next to him on the poster.

but I'm curious. Have any of the promotional materials included a "Part One" anywhere? I'm thinking back to the old days when my sister called me a few months after we watched FOTR together to let me know they were making a sequel. I know many, if not most, people who are going to see this movie have read the news of a trilogy on the internet by now, but I wonder how many casual movie fans will be taken aback at the end of the first movie?
