Hobbit trailer playing with Dredd 3-D

By now we've all probably seen the new Hobbit trailer scores of times on our computers. Many have even streamed it 20 or 30 times on their big screen TVs, including all four alternate endings (ahem). But, there's nothing like seeing it first hand on the big screen as I can now attest. Having just returned from seeing Dredd 3-D (well worth the price of admission, IMHO), I'm elated to say that the Hobbit trailer *is* playing in front of it, it played in 3-D and it was AWESOME!!!! Of course, the amount of additional detail one can see on the big screen goes without saying, but the colors, dialogue and sound were also enhanced enough to make any geek squeal with glee (as the rest of the movie-goers can attest). The 3-D was also amazing - not overdone, but enough to feel like I was being transported to Middle-earth. For the record, I live in the Denver area and went to an AMC theater. As we get reports about to what other movies it's playing with, we'll update this story. If you're wondering how you're ever going to make it to December 14th, I highly recommend trying to see the trailer in theaters. Then again, maybe that just makes it worse! (No.. really.. SEE IT)!

I recommend seeing Dredd in 2D because I don't think you need 3D to enjoy it. You also have to be comfortable with watching gallons of blood spill out of various parts of people's bodies and enjoy having a fascist as a cop. I liked it, but I could easily see this as being a horrible experience for some folks. As for the Hobbit trailer, I will be watching this in 3D. I would like to say it was because it was of the trailer, but I probably would have seen it as PJ intended anyway. Especially when played before a competently-done 3D movie like Dredd, the quality of the 3D really stood out. I remember reading someone saying how your mind kind of compensates for the 3D until you don't really know you are watching it (and I was nodding along in agreement when I read it). Maybe the trailer was too short, but that did not happen to me. Even in the Hobbit hole, the 3D is glorious. So good. I wish I could put it in infinite loop on my computer, but, alas, I can only watch 2D here.

http://newboards.theonering.net/...latest_reply;so=ASC; (Though the options to show it with this weekend were few and far between.) They're saying good things about Dredd... they loved it at TIFF 2012 and Karl "Eomer" Urban is fast becoming a darling of the big screen. Going for the trailer and staying for the film is probably time and money well spent.
