But I shouldn't think the prototype flaps would need to go up in two cone shapes for a hat like Bofur's. They would just go straight down, and then could be levitated horizontally with wires or something. But maybe I'm wrong. Also possible that this hat design started out as intended for Radagast, and was later modified for Bofur.

Could be that she's making a small version of Bofur's hat

That wig shot is fascinating IMO. Most certainly to be worn by Iron Hill dwarves in the 2nd film I'd guess //

all the individualised dwarf designs! Their race didn't get a whole lot of love or exposition in the trilogy, but I'm very impressed by how TH designers have thrown themselves into differentiating these dwarves as much as possible I'm thinking that Radagast, Gandalf and Saruman will make a nice little wizard trinity for these films, costume-wise.

I am especially thrilled by the decision to distinguish Radagast by having birds poop into his beard. Perhaps Saruman was wrong, and Raddy wasn't so proficient with his bird-taming skills? A revision of Tolkien's text is in order: Saruman: "Radagast the Brown! Radagast the one who tries to tame birds, but is ultimately unsuccessful, leading to all sorts of bird poop in his beard! Radagast the Simple (who rides a rather complicated bunny-driven landsled, though - give credit where credit is due)! Radagast the Fool (no qualifier here)!

...but it does make Saruman's scorn justified. And not to nitpick (oh nevermind, that's all I do) but last I checked tame birds don't give a crap where they...well you know.

I'd need a new keyboard!
"The Naugrim were ever, as they still remain, short and squat in stature; they were deep-breasted, strong in the arm, and stout in the leg, and their snouts were long. Indeed this strangeness they have that no Man nor Elf has ever seen a snoutless Dwarf - unless he were rhinoplasted in mockery, and would then be more like to die of shame than of many other hurts that to us would seem more deadly. For the Naugrim have snouts from the beginning of their lives, male and female alike..." (History of Middle Earth, volume 11, The War of the Truffles, p. 205)
