ON TORn, a Founders Day 2012 parody tribute

In 1998, Michael 'Xoanon' Regina and Erica 'Tehanu' Challis started a website using all of the information they could get related to the filming of The Lord of the Rings, including exclusive "spy" reports from Tehanu's visit to the New Zealand set. This activity first got her escorted off the set, and then invited back on to take an official look around and meet director Peter Jackson. In early 1999, Chris ‘Calisuri’ Pirrotta, a designer, came across the site and asked if they needed some design and technical help to grow the site and make it a central web location for other Tolkien fans. Calisuri's friend William ‘Corvar’ Thomas was brought aboard to provide server and business help. Xoanon, Tehanu, Calisuri and Corvar then formed The One Ring, Inc. and are the sole owners/founders of TheOneRing.net. (from wikipedia entry) This song parody is a tribute to TheOneRing.net, its said four founders that made it their lasting legacy, the admins that keep it running, the community that participates in keeping it alive, and our common tastes and interests and shared ideas and thoughts that bring us together as members of that community. ON TORn, a parody of I’m Yours by Jason Mraz (source links below) Well, it dawned on Xoanon and Tehanu who felt it, They knew that the films would be so hot, so they melded Their efforts with two more Calusuri and Corvar made four When the rumors done come out they marked 'em the fastest Why's Arwen at the Deep? I think this needs intervention. They kept an eye on every turn And would post news as they learned some, And I don't hesitate, I know I know There's Tolkien news On TORn! Well, open up your mind, discuss with me The L-O-T-R films, that means all three, Talk about the books where we find love love love, Listen to the soundtrack of the movies, Enya’s May it Be, Howard’s haunting melodies, It’s Ol' Peter Jackson’s work that I love love love love Love! So I don’t hesitate, no more, I know I cannot wait, I’m sure There’s a need to congregate On message boards This is my fate On TORn! Doo da doo doo-cha doo’cha doo do 'n' dooo, Don’t cha want chat on, What’s your thought on Faramir? Were the changes too dear? Soo de bop be pwom puh pwom Whoaah Whoaah, whoa wo wo wo wo haha! Hmmm-mmm-mmm! I been spending way too long waiting for the latest trailer And bending backwards just to know if Tauriel's the jailer The games fill up the glass Of my screen, like Scenes from the Hat Like our Captions, TIME, B-S, Walks, no better series, Like Middle-Earth Conspiracy for posting witty theories, That's what we aim to do Our playing is our virtue And I don't hesitate no more, no more I check our message board (I don't hesitate) Well, open up your mind, discuss with me (no more, no more) The L-O-T-R films, even Bakshi (I log right in) Log onto the boards and you'll find (On TORn) this site is yours (I need to congregate) I need to I need to (on message boards) I need to congregate (This is my fate) On the message boards, this is this is this is my fate (On TORn) On TORn……nahhh! Brrrap op um day doo doo doocha doot dooden ooh on TORn, ooh on TORn baby just believe this site is yours [fade out] Source links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkKwS55PH7E http://www.lyrics007.com/...0Yours%20Lyrics.html

And suddenly the Tornadoes saw afar off a greenlight, as it were a cloud with a living heart of flame; and they knew that this was no vision only, but that PJ had made a new thing: The Hobbit, the Film that Is.

Thanks, I really enjoyed that.
Silverlode "Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them. Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you." -On Fairy Stories

Very fun and very well done -- what a nice treat for the day! How long did it take you to write this? I would still be on stanza one a week later! Bravo!

I do like listening along while reading your lyrics! Nice job of working in both the "old" and the "new" in there. Great tribute, Ruxendil!

Thanks weaver! It took me maybe a few hours over the course of a day or two Add to that some few more hours for research, which was a whole different matter. As a relative newbie--OK OK a complete utter lowly unworthy newbie! --, I had to learn about our site's history second-hand. I have come to view this site and its founders, sen.staff, admins, and community in a new light as a result and I'm in awe, really. As a tribute, my parody does not suffice, nor can any words I can imagine. Also, I have enjoyed the process the whole way. Cheers!

Perhaps i shouldn't say this about my own parody but i like to sing it too. The source song as performed by Mraz is so catchy. I heard Simon Cowell has banned it from being sung on his talent shows bc too many contestants were choosing it for their audition song.

Thanks dernwyn! It was somewhat daunting at first, being a newbie and having never met any of the Big Four, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do enough of a tribute. Fortunately, so much is well-documented within these boards and elsewhere, I was able at least cover an "old", and then supply the "new" pretty much from first hand perspective. It was a fun and educational little project I'm glad to have done. Thanks again

I really enjoyed that, Ruxendil. You're parodies are alwasy so clever, but this one especially. I guess it has to do with your inspiration, right?
Koru: Maori symbol representing a fern frond as it opens. The koru reaches towards the light, striving for perfection, encouraging new, positive beginnings.
