John Rawls to appear in The Hobbit as ???? Can't Post

Lets get back to the usual Tongue

Our friends over at herr-der-ringe have information regarding John Rawls will be playing ...... Azog!!!!

http://www.herr-der-ringe-film.de/...filme/news_86784.php

A very rough translation of the page:

Quote

The actor John Rawls (30 DAYS OF NIGHT) will play a role in the Hobbit. But the naming of the role created some confusion.
According to his agency Kathryn Rawlings and Associates John Rawls will be in fact the role of the orc leader to see Azog, killing the grandfather of Thorin Oakenshield. Azog is probably an Uruk-hai, bred by Sauron in the dungeons of Dol Guldur.
Confusing in this announcement is the fact that this role about a year ago even with the wrestler and actor Conan Stevens has been busy. This time Peter Jackson had even personally on his Facebook profile proclaims.
The following possible explanations:
1) There is an error and John Rawls actually plays a different role, perhaps another orc?
2) John Rawls, is "only" the double of Conan Stevens, for example, the action scenes or lighting set up.
3) John Rawls actually plays Azog because Conan Stevens resigned (which is very unlikely).
We turn to the matter and inform you as soon we know more.
PS On the agency side we learn incidentally, also, that the stuntman Steven Davis as "lead stunt double" is on board with the Hobbit.

Good catch [In reply to] Can't Post

i was confused too, but i think i found the answer. and it is an answer that might please a lot of book fans. John Rawls is Azog. Conan Stevans is Bolg.
Earlier he was listed asAzog in the Cast on torn but now it says he is Bolg, i just checked it.
That means that they'll both appear and we will see all the background stories =)

Certainly seems that way [In reply to] Can't Post

News came out this week that C.Stevans was actually playing Bolg, rather than Azog. So this news does seem to fit some pieces together.

However, like the site says, it could be mis-information, and could just be the stunt double.

Conan Stevens confirmed as Bolg... [In reply to] Can't Post

...by our very own Altaira. This lends some support to the John Rawls story. Although, really, the character of Azog doesn't need to appear in The Hobbit. He is barely named in the book.

"Darkness beyond blackest pitch, deeper than the deepest night!
King of Darkness, who shines like gold upon the Sea of Chaos.
I call upon thee and swear myself to thee!
Let the fools who stand before me be destroyed by the power you and I possess!"

With his build? [In reply to] Can't Post

He's about 1/5th the size of Conan! I mean seriously, he's only about 6'4'' and scrawny. Conan is 7'1'' and has muscles!

There's only a foot of a difference between these two guys... [In reply to] Can't Post

... so technically John Rawls isn't 1/5th the size of Conan Stevens. And given that both their characters are going to be under heavy prosthetics, and probably huge boots/shoes, I don't see their height difference making much of a... difference Tongue

I was joking [In reply to] Can't Post

but in all honesty a foot in height and 6 semi trucks of muscle do make a difference.

Totally unfamiliar with him...however.....whoever plays the role will [In reply to] Can't Post

be behind prosthetics and makeup. He is thinner than I would have imagined but his facial structure appears to compliment the necessary orcish make-up as in the 30 Days photo.
