He's a master of the longbow and exceptionally dangerous with a seax knife. Frodo and Sting can't compete with those skills, and the mithril coat will only prevent torso wounds. However, if Frodo is wearing the ring, he'll be a very difficult target. Will would have to rely on tracking and listening to find him. That would probably be the most difficult tracking Will has ever done, but I think eventually he could track down Frodo. Frodo's greatest strength is his resistance to corruption and evil. If Will had to carry the ring, he'd succumb to its will (see what I did there?), just as he fell to warmweed in Skandia.
