...to put any gripes or concerns I may have about the finished movie to rest. PJ looks happier than ever in this one. Was that him in front of a green screen dressed up for his Cameo by the way?

I teared up when they were going through Hobbiton. The first half looks like it's going to yield some interesting details once examined, but I've got cleaning to do. Fantastic! And thanks for letting us know!

shows you a map of NZ and the locations, one in particular caught my eye, "Outskirts of Bree" (Paradise Trust) and in the same area "Beorns". So we may not see the inside of Bree again but probably a background shot of Bree as the Company passes by.

The Hobbit fashion is very different

We're clearly in the late 18th Century now. In a weird way the clothes - especially those of the women - look more realistic now. I noticed they seem to have corsets. I'm unsure how Hobbitty it is, but the dresses are surely very, very pretty. So great to see Elijah. He looks a bit lonely without his Sam, and Merry and Pippin, though. And is it just me, or has his voice deepened? Is Gandalf riding two different horses? First we see him riding all alone on some rugged open plain, and his horse seems to be dark bay with white socks. Later on we see him riding with the Company, apparently still in the Shire, and he's riding a chestnut without any white markings. I've only seen the vlog once, so further inquiries are needed. *rewatches*

So we are going to see Bree again! Horray! Let's hope this time around it's more friendly and pittoresque place. Would it be too much to ask to wish to even have some Bree Hobbits? Of course it's entirely possible we'll just see it from afar, but that's great too. In FotR I always missed a good look at Bree. We only got to see dark rainy streets at night, and the interiors of Prancing Pony.

I wonder if PJ realizes that he's playing Santa Claus to a lot of grateful fans? Scratch that.... he's BETTER than Santa Claus! We really are fortunate to have a director who spoils us like this.

Behind the Bomburs. Even thought you can't see their faces (expect far away in the backround) they look rather nice. All big and musceled and intimidating. They have an Uruk-hai vibe to them. Good, good. They need to look threathening in the open, againts armies of Dwarves and Elves, not just the escaping Fellowship.

Such hunks, huh? Glad they've redisgned them. It was bothersome how the Orcs didn't seem any scary at all in LotR. Only the Uruk-hai very honestly intimidating. So this is a welcome update. Next: the redesigned Wargs.
