I know it's over a year away, but I was reading up on the LotR cruise advertised on the the Home page, and it sounds kind of cool. Especially since I wouldn't have to come up with the money all at once! I'm seriously thinking about this, and would be even more interested if I knew some of you here might do it - just think: another reason to Moot, and this time we could do it in New Zealand and Australia!

the details and it has my interest peeked as well. I don't think I would go for the 'Wizards package' (too rich for my blood) but the 'Hobbit package' is more than doable. Decisions, decisions.

I could take that much time off work, either. But the Hobbit package is something I think I could do. We shall have to discuss this further.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw this. Like just now, I just looked at it and I screamed so loud it's not even funny. My mother asked what was wrong and in the jibberish language I told her but she managed to decipher and gave me that motherish look like "yeah ok". Mother my passion!!! LOL I can see I may have to do this on my own but... I am determined.

I would be up for the hobbit package too! (Hey, is it just me or does that sound like some kind of innuendo? No? Just me then... ) I'm really keen to do this - seems like a good price to me, and what a great way to moot! I do have to sort out what I'll be doing in terms of work at that time, but the cancellation policy is fairly good so I think I may well be up for booking this! Especially if deej and CAhobbit are going! Who's with us?

I'm a bit confused about how much of the event is on the ship. Is the ship portion just the Auckland-Sydney stretch, or will it travel down part of NZ's coastline first? Either way, it sounds like that cruise would *rock* - especially as there's a 'LOTR lite' version for the sanity of any non-fan spousal units. :D
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. except of course for the trips inland and the optional 6-day pre-cruise tour. We* will be sailing down the NZ coast (even if it's the wrong coast ;-) from Auckland all the way down and around to Fiordland before taking off across the Ditch to Melbourne. The Hobbit's Journey page lists all the ports of call along the way. I found a lot more information on Celebrity's site about the ship and the cruise, including deck plans, pictures of the different cabins, and information about the non-LOTR onshore excursions they offer (I assume these will be available to us just as they are to the mundane passengers). *I'm not affiliated with the cruise-- just planning to go if I'm able!
And Rose drew him in, and set him on the harpsichord bench, and put little Wilhelm Friedemann upon his lap. He began composing a fugue. 'Well, I'm Bach,' he said.

It really does sound like a great deal. I'm just trying to figure out now when I will be able to send in my deposit, and who will want to share a room with me ( i've been told i'm a wonderful roommate. ). I don't have the money or time off work for the Wizard's package, but the Hobbit package would be doable. And I think I would need a room with a window, otherwise I might go a little stir crazy. The only thing that 'slightly' concerns me is the formal dress for dinners. There is talk of costumes, which I normally don't do. Do you think they would settle for a nice pair of pants and a TOR.n shirt?

as I said just now in my moot post, this is a thing worth making a prority. Being with people who share so much, who are each so special and fun, and going to a place with such meaning to all of us - this is worth striving for. We're already talking about it, the hobbity hubby and I, and I'm determined! I'm not going to let another single opportunity like this pass me by if I can help it! Here's hoping, unh? hob

If we could get a three berth room, you, me and CAhobbit could room together. Err wait - you don't get sea sick, do ya? Never been a problem for me and I've 'cruised' before... I REALLY want to do this! It seems like a good price and I'm decided - now if only I could work out where/if I'll be employed at that point. Time is the only issue here... I wouldn't worry about the 'formal' bit - so long as you have nice trousers (heehee - I would write pants but as a Brit, I don't think I should encourage you to go to a formal dinner in your pants!), and not jeans, I think you'll be fine. Jeans, trainers and tatty old tshirts are probably out. Nice trousers, clean shirts and looking like you made an effort is probably fine! My only dilemma is how many evening gowns I can fit in my suitcase! I do like to dress up...

I went on a whale watching tour in Kaikoura, and the water was pretty choppy but I did okay. I would think a hugh cruise ship would be much easier on the stomach. Yes - let's all look into getting a 3 person cabin. I don't think we need to reserve all at once, but I will double-check.

They'll be a bit like another Oscar party. We shall have to have at least one Pubmoot in a shipboard bar to get ready. I only wish they'd given their ocean-view rooms round doors to go with the round windows.

When dj mentioned this to me at DragonCon, I felt like I was dropping into a numb-zone! I think I can swing it financially since I've been saving for this (not enough though), and I WILL GO TO NEW ZEALAND! It's the time. If I use too much time for this, I could lose visit time with the g'kiddies next summer. Mom's already thinking they may not be able to come at all as she's been very worried about me being stretched so thin with vacation time. I take no vacation at all during the year to save for the g'kiddies... and my former boss would really work with me on this and let me accumulate extra days/hours off; but my current bosses (while very fair) are not so inclined. I want to look this over and am pulled toward Hobbits, too <:) I'd LOVE to hang out with you guys, too! To share this with like-spirits in love and appreciation for such a visit would make it absolutely perfect! The only thing that's changing from my original plans for NZ was to be there WHEN they're filming The Hobbit ;) Lemmie check things out. *twitch* omg... this could be happening!
