I know he has no power over what gets put on dvd/blur-ray releases, but I'm glad he also thinks there should be one that includes the other deleted scenes (and the bloopers).

And all of the cut scenes! Oh, oh, does this mean will some day really get to see the wedding of Éowyn and Faramir, and their Kiss? And the epilogue? And Arwen and Aragorn on Dol Amroth? PJ, what do you still want? My soul? Here, take it, TAKE IT!

I have mixed feelings about bloopers.

Sometimes they're really funny. But take after take after take of the same line flub is just tedious. I'd much rather have cutting room floor footage of real stuff that simply didn't make the movie for artistic/directorial reasons.

They're rarely funny and ruin the flow of the film once you've seen them... Pixar used to have blooper-reels in their credits, which they removed from the Blu-ray releases because of that reason... You watch a scene and remember a funny blooper, it totally takes you out of the moment in the film.

I wouldn't want to see the bloopers for the sake of jokes, but for the sake of seeing my beloved cast and crew once more. I love the behind the scenes material, because watching them has made me love the people behind these movies more than I love the movies themselves.

Star Trek had the best bloopers.

Some flubs, but a lot of the time, it was simply the cast cutting up and being silly.

When rehearsing the part in Weathertop where the hobbits pull out their sword and run to the stairs, apparently Dom missed his cue and did a double-take that was extremely funny. In the FoTR commentary, the hobbits said that everybody was getting angry with them because they watched the replay thirty times and were in tears from laughter. I must see this. And I don't know if they got footage of this, but Dom said he had a laughing fit when the hobbits were all sleeping in the same bed at Bree, because he was so close to Billy Boyd. I've had the same thing happen to me before, so I'm curious to see that as well.

But when the comedy is in the context of a scene... or even if it isn't comedy (Sean's foot and Viggo's toe) it just ruins the moment when I'm watching the film by reminding me of the behind-the-scenes.

I guess I'm less bothered than some about being "taken out" of a scene.

That is, knowing the technique of a special effect, or remembering some tidbit about something behind the scenes is, to me, just a passing "oh, yeah, that," moment. I'm more bothered by things within the film that don't fit the plot or unnecessarily alter the author's intent or something like that.

Maybe when they come out with the extra, extra gold box set Blue Ray DVD after the second movie; the one that has all of the EE LOTR and Hobbit movies and extra material. It would be nice to see them maybe dress up and patch together all of the deleted material from all five movies, such as the orc fight in Lorien or the cut scenes of Legoloas and Gimli travelling together after the war of the ring ended. I seem to remember hearing PJ make some joking reference in the appendices to eventually adding in this material when they do the 25th anniversary box set, but it would sure be nice get it now.
