...your post is in the right forum now! This sounds great! Do you know if there's a link to the article online?

"I desired dragons with a profound desire" "It struck me last night that you might write a fearfully good romantic drama, with as much of the 'supernatural' as you cared to introduce. Have you ever thought of it?" -Geoffrey B. Smith, letter to JRR Tolkien, 1915

Does anyone know where us Americans can buy the magazine? I'm dying to read it!
"So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring, in which case you were also meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought..." ---- My Dear Lucy, I wrote this story for you, but when I began it I had not realized that girls grow quicker than books. As a result you are already too old for fairy tales, and by the time it is printed and bound you will be older still. But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again. You can then take it down from some upper shelf, dust it, and tell me what you think of it. I shall probably be too deaf to hear, and too old to understand, a word you say, but I shall still be your affectionate Godfather, C.S. Lewis

You might try Barnes and Noble or any book store (or magazine store) that carries more than just Good Housekeeping and People magazine. It's worth calling around and not running around. If you have a college nearby, don't forget to check where students buy their magazines. I bought the LOTR issue that had the glossy photos of the cast in them (loose for framing). I called and they had one on the counter and held it for me.

but it tends to show up much later than the other December magazines. As Magpie said, it's definitely worth calling around.

actually... not. He did play a gong and it came at a particular point in the music when he played it. But that take never made it into the recorded score. It was a just for fun, photo op type moment. and how frickin geeky is it that I make that point?

We don't even have a bookstore in my town anymore, alas -- so links like this will be my only way to get a copy of this. That was a fun 100 Item list; II thought I knew it all - Ha -- but there were a few things on here that were new to me...like Viggo's son being the first orc he killed at the Pellenor!

..yep, you get a gong-out for knowing that the Jackson gong-hit did not make it into the score...but you know, somehow I was not surprised by the fact that you did, indeed know that!

For the ideas. I tried our local Barns and Nobles and they said they didn't carry it :( But I'm going to keep trying. Maybe I'll get it for Christmas I'm going to have to watch ROTK now to see Howard Shore in the drinking scene.
"So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. But I think the article should be entitled "Most things you know about Lord of the rings" I didn't knew why PJ is holding a carrot in the Bree scene or that the first orc that Viggo kills on the Pelennor Fields was played by his son :) And I didn't knew that "The first person to join the Lord of the Rings fan club in October 2001 and earn himself a place in the credits was... Elijah Wood. "..haha Is that even true?

But there were a few surprises! Twas a fun read anyway! The last one was really disappointing! I mean I thought that was somewhat common knowledge, Arwen being Galadriel's granddaughter!
'Help oft shall come from the hands of the weak when the Wise falter.'
"Yet in that hour was put to the proof that which Mithrandir had spoken, and help came from the hands of the weak when the Wise faltered."

But the closest copy is 45 miles away... so I called Barnes & Noble and asked them to mail it to me for $1.99 shipping!!! CAN'T BEAT THAT! :D Oh... I can't wait!!! *twitch*
I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.
