Serkis: "There will be a trailer fairly soon, actually. Around Christmas time, I believe." Can't Post

There you have it. Honestly, a lot of us expected to get our first glimpse of the movie around Christmas but it's nice to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

Yay!!! [In reply to] Can't Post

I figured as much, especially since it's so highly anticipated. But it's so amazing to have it confirmed. I can't wait to be here on the day it debuts! Laugh

Not surprising [In reply to] Can't Post

But good to finally get confirmation nonetheless.

It'll probably be with either Sherlock Holmes or Tintin.

And they start filming in March 2010! [In reply to] Can't Post

So says Ian McKellan! Tongue

Seriously, I'd like to get excited, but Andy's an actor and not an executive at Warner's marketing. I HOPE he's right...but you never know...

And it'll probably really be a teaser, anyway.

My Top 5 Wish List for "The Hobbit"
5. Legolas will surf down Smaug's neck
4. Bilbo will be revealed to a Robot
3. Naked PJ cameo as Ghan-Buri-Ghan
2. Use not only 3D, but smell-o-vision, with axes coming out of the seats and poking the audience when appropriate
1. Not only keep the claim that Thorin & Co. ran amok in Mirkwood "molesting people", but depict said incident in vivid detail!!!!!

Andy, just an actor? [In reply to] Can't Post

He's also the 2nd unit director.

But yeah, good point about him not being in Warner Brothers' marketing department and I'm also in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp!

:)

That's a little different. [In reply to] Can't Post

No one could foresee all the problems the production would be facing and when they would be resolved, which kept filming from starting.

Marketing is meticulously planned way in advance, once production started and the release date was set they probably already laid out timeframes for trailers. While Serkis is not in the marketing department i doubt he would have said this if he didn't know something.

Of course it's gonna be a teaser. We shouldn't expect anything more one year in advance, they are still in the midst of shooting. But even a teaser is an exciting prospect, is it not? Well, provided they do a good job, which i hope they do. The effectiveness of a teaser is not necessarily tied to the amount of footage shown.

Tintin release on 21st December? [In reply to] Can't Post

I knew it was being released later in the US than in Europe, but I took my girlfriend to see that film a few weeks ago. How can there be such a huge difference?

Now I remember back in the day 15-odd years ago when films in the UK would be released weeks or even months before they were released in Sweden (films in Sweden aren't even dubbed because the market is so small, only subbed except kid's movies) but with the internet etc. today I would have thought that such discrepancy would be completely unfeasible.

It was a good film btw, just not really sure how much the 3D added.

Tintin was my first thought, but... [In reply to] Can't Post

...It's a Paramount film, not Warner Bros., and as far as I've read about the film TimeWarner doesn't have anything to do with Tintin. While PJ and Serkis are involved with both Tintin and TH, they won't be the ones running the marketing. With that in mind, I suspect that the trailer will be released alongside Sherlock Holmes 2.

That is, if we see a trailer this holiday at all. Given The Hobbit's track record... Crazy
