Our esteemed barkeeper, Altaira, has had a quite hectic week and must attend to work today, so I shall get the bar opened! *puts out bowls and spoons* There’s plenty of ice cream here – in your favorite flavors, even rocky road and rum ripple! Plus hot fudge, marshmallow, fruits, sprinkles, and more - all your favorite toppings. And root beer, of course, for those who’d like root beer floats! So come on in and cool down! For our westernmost U.S./Canada and southern hemisphere ‘sibs, there’s also the warm fireplace with warm friendly Elves. Tell us how your week has been (there hasn't been any excitement around here, has there? ) and what your plans are for the weekend!

Thought I'd drop in and say hello. Also wanted to say another huge thanks for all the love and support I've had from here. It has helped more than you can know. It has been a difficult few weeks, but we are trying to carry on with life. I am back at work now, which is good, the routine is helping. We have been spending a lot of our spare time hiking, it's where I seem to find the most peace. My brother and his wife are coping well considering what they have just endured. Having two other children to be there for must be a lifeline for them right now. Dad isn't doing so good, but it's what we expected. It's still very early days. It was Dylan's 5th birthday on Saturday, that was incredibly difficult for us all. I am sure he had a lot of fun, wherever he may be. Hope everyone is well, I am enjoying all the Hobbit news that is coming through! Have a good weekend X

...only to learn that I was a week off. So this weekend for sure! But I'm not walking this time. Ugh! Other than that, I'm having dinner with a friend tonight and a Rapids soccer game tomorrow night. Wednesday's game was a satisfying blowout for a change, instead of a sister-kissing tie or a loss. And some more drooling over some lovely dwarves. (That just sounds so weird, hee! You don't usually think of dwarves as being hawt!)

And thank you so much for giving us an update on how everyone is doing. It's hard for all of you, and especially for a grandparent to lose a beloved grandchild...please give him, and the rest of your family, extra hugs from all of us! And for you, as well! {{{Jazmine}}}

Well, as I said last week I'm dieting. Some days I'm happier about it than others. I am down three pounds this week (yay!). That's three of the 20 I have to lose before I'm no longer considered obese. My goal weight for this leg of the diet is 195, so you do the math if you want. Of course, three pounds in 7 days isn't really a healthy drop and it was a complete fluke. I'm guessing the 4 or 5 hours I spent in a friend's pool for her b-day are probably the culprit since I certainly haven't been working that hard or cutting that many calories. I get 1500-1700 calories a day and do 30 minutes of my Belly Dance for Fitness (mostly) every day. I've also resorted to a rewards program that I learned in kindergarten: stickers! I get a sticker on my calendar for every day that I stick to my routine. Last night, though, my planning was shot to heck as my fridge decided to not be cold anymore. Looks like it was just a frosting problem and turning it off overnight to defrost seems to have fixed it, but all of my beautiful diet foods and condiments are kaput. I guess that's one way to start off with a clean slate! Happy Friday, everyone! Hope those of us in this terrible heat are able to stay cool this weekend.

Now that is an expression I'm not familiar with! Good idea to not walk in this heat. How high have the temps gone in your area? Enjoy the dinner, and Go Rapids! (Yeah, who'd have thought those Dwarves would be...like that...wow...)

That's the last thing you need to have break in this heat: the 'fridge! So sorry that all that food got lost! However, congrats on the weight going down! When one of my friends was on a diet, she'd happily announce when she'd "lost another decade" . It's a good feeling.

I've got to be up at five fifteen to make my flight. :( So I'll be getting an early night tonight! Could I have a coffee to-go for tomorrow morning please?? :) The week's been good-- I had my last day of lifeguarding *ever*!!!! That is very exciting. I will be happy to never lifeguard again. After I get back from MI (in a week), I'm just going to work at my writing internship full-time until school starts back up again. My roommate for next year is one of my close friends in the music fraternity I belong to. She's a devout LOTR fan, you'll be glad to know, and even knows a bit of Elvish (Sindarin). I'm very excited to room with her! Cheers, and happy weekend!

What color(s)? *hands out a large root beer float* Just inhale that deeply as you eat/drink it, the root beer ought to knock out the other aromas! And good to see you around here. I missed last week's fiesta because I was at a taekwondo tournament, so I guess I'll have to eat enough ice cream for both fiestas Only two weeks left of my internship now and everyone tells me I'm doing really good work. I'm getting quite excited for my family vacation in about 3 weeks. We're going to Rocky Mountain Nat. Park. I keep meaning to request a tour of CU-Boulder. Even though I don't really need to be looking at grad schools for about another year, we'll be right there, so might as well check it out

so I'm trying to fight the longing for it by painting my walls white :-) They're already white but a bit dirty ... A bomb exploded 3-4 hours ago, there's at least two deaths and some weirdo is running around at Utøya (an island about an hour from Oslo) and shooting at a political arrangment for the labour youth. It's all really weird.
