Sir Christopher Lee - New Video on Forbes
|

There is a new interview on video with Christopher Lee on the Forbes website, promising it is the first in a series of videos. What caught my eye was the initial statement in the article by the author John Farrell. "Earlier this month, I had an opportunity to sit down with British film star Sir Christopher Lee, who on the verge of turning 89 is getting ready to reprise his role as Saruman in Peter Jackson’s two-part production of The Hobbit (among many other projects)." I watched the five minute video and there was no mention of The Hobbit. Perhaps that will come on the next round of videos promised to be released. However, I found it interesting that Farrell, who had just sat down with Sir Christopher, would not state the phrase "getting ready to reprise his role as Saruman" in a more cautious way if his involvement was still up in the air. It would be odd to use that statement (considering he just interviewed him) if the author wasn't told that by Lee himself. So is this possibly a "backwards confirmation" of Lee coming back in The Hobbit? While it certainly isn't official and the article isn't detailed enough to confirm, it does make me wonder if that announcement is close. And I'll be watching for future videos!

That was quite awhile ago. At 89 health issues can change quickly. He has also said he would not travel again. So just the fact that an article indicates he is "preparing to reprise his role" would mean (if true) that he is healthy enough, there is a spot for him in the movie and that he is willing to do it. If that is all true, we still don't know if he'd travel to New Zealand or if they would accomodate him in England. None of this is conclusive...but certainly some room for speculation here.

Is it me, or does he look a heck of a lot better than he did at the BAFTA's? He looks like he put on some weight, and I notice he's not hunching over when he walks in the beginning. Anyways, I'll take his message on his website to be good proof that he'll return if he's doing fine. As for traveling, he hasn't really said definitively whether he's going to NZ or not, he may.

mr Lee is a great actor and deserves to reprise his role of Saruman btw we know he's a bit aged and even if he is good in mind, surely he's not the same of LOTR however I hope there's some truth in the unsaid words and then he can acts just staying in England thanks to modern technology so why not?!?! I hope so go Cristopher!!!

It's loading and working for me in Firefox so it's probably a anti-ad setting you have in Firefox or a security setting for your computer that is blocking it. I have an add on for Firefox, IE View, that lets me choose: 'View this page in IE' with a right click. It lets me right click on a page and open it in IE. Most of the time, issues I have with a page in Firefox get resolved when I view it in IE. I don't know if the add on is available for Macs but you could always just copy the url and put it in IE if you have it.

They could easily ship a portion of a seat or the chair (assuming the white council is seated) or film against a green screen. Then film with another unit with PJ directing in NZ via satellite. Kind of like skype. PJ worked with King Kong composer James Newton Howard via satellite without even meeting him in person. It's a $500 Million production. They can do just about anything. But who knows... Lee might be able to make it to NZ. Unless (god forbid) Lee passes before they shoot him... he'll be in The Hobbit. I'm positive.

I would rather be watching Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" and Ridley Scott's "Prometheus"...it's going to be a long few years.

Here is what was reported on Christopher Lee's official website back in January:
Slowly but surely, Peter Jackson has managed to secure the return of the majority of the major stars from The Lord of the Rings franchise for his soon to be shooting prequel, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Sir. Christopher Lee had been in talks to reprise his role as the wizard Saruman and it now looks certain, providing that he is in good health, that he will be appearing in the movie.

Perhaps the lovely spring weather, and thinking about playing Saruman again has given him a boost of immortal strength?

whatever it was, I'm thankful for it. I'd so love to see him as Saruman at the White Council.
