Daniel Reeve's Wellywood Map
|
Can't Post
|
|
Been to Wellington? Couldn't get that perfect memento of your visit? Daniel Reeve has filled a gap spotted by local tour company Rover Tours and Jack of the Noldor Blog, and created a Tolkien-inspired map of Wellington's film sites. It's in that authentic quill-pen, parchment style Reeve does so well. You can have fun translating the Reeves' runes into real place names. No doubt there'll be a mountain of Tolkien-themed goodies available when The Hobbit comes out, but in the meantime, there are a few of these available to buy right now. See More

I haven't had time to open it yet. Will do it tonight, but I'm very excited!

Contemplating whether it would go well with my Daniel Reeves TORN map... hmmm And certainly the closest I'll ever get to New Zealand.

I'm glad you all like the map - I had a great time with this project! We also give them to people who come on our halfday and fullday LOTR tours. They are possibly the only actual Wellywood souvenirs out there, which sounds weird. Wellington isn't so good at blowing its own trumpet, and we have almost no actual proof that we made any movies here. There is nothing "Wellington" for sale at the Weta Cave, for instance. Strange but true. - Jack

And I really like the size. It's just right for slipping in with the other Reeve maps and makes a great pattern on the wall :D I can't believe you've found a niche when it comes to Wellington/LotR collectibles ;) I just saw the t-shirts you have!!! That'll be my next treasure ;) Thanks so much for this! The tour I went on was such a huge part of my visit to Wellington, and this is something tangible I can look up and have right close by that reminds me of that magical time :) LOVE YOUR BLOG, too! *bows deeply* Thanks for all you do to keep us close to the action!
I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

Hehe, it was so nice meeting you as well! And glad you found the shirt - I've not really mentioned it to anyone or anything, perhaps it's time I started doing that again! - Jack
