What better place to ask this sort of question than tOR.N? If you were to attend a convention/symposium/other event where Tolkien were to be discussed, what sort of panels or lectures would you like to attend? What would they cover, how would you like to see them presented, &c? Inferno.

where the attendees told stories of how Tolkien came to and affected their lives. The chairs were pulled into a circle and the discussion was so inspiring and sensitive. I also would love to hear illustrators and artists of Tolkien's works feeling on Tolkien's world and what inspires them to choose the subjects they do (both assigned projects and personal choices). Discussion of the characters and their origins, participation and affect on the Quest also fascinates me. I wish I had been able to attend a presentation by Doug Adams on the music from the films. Discussions by Adams or Shore would be incredible! One of the most riveting presentations I attended was Daniel Reeve walking us through his work for LotR.
Trust him... The Hobbit is coming! "Barney Snow was here." ~Hug like a hobbit!~ "In my heaven..." TORn's Observations Lists

What about something on illustration of Tolkien's work?

The recent Tolkien art discussions in the RR gave me that idea. I would also love to see a discussion on the role of women in Tolkien's work, or on how Tolkien perceived women, or something like that. Sorry I took so long to reply, Inferno. I've been trying to respond to this post for several days and every time I clicked on it the phone would ring or some other interruption would take place, and then I'd forget to come back to it!
