Good luck! It'd be cool if some ToRNers got part as an extra and then some day told us rest about their experiences - of course not writing about anything they wouldn't be allowed to tell.

Wouldn't they have been filming or almost filming by now? I guess PJ got the time back that he had lost over the blacklist by being hospitalized.

.......and too short.........and no where near NZ (I am actually busy though )
..The land of long-forgotten name: ......no man may ever anchor near; ..No steering star his hope may aim, ......for nether Night its marches drear, ..And waters wide no sail may tame, ......with shores encircled dark and sheer. ..O! Haven where my heart would be! ......the waves beat upon thy bar ..For ever echo endlessly, ......when longing leads thy thought afar

Then again, there were individual examples: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Horse "Asfaloth was the horse of Glorfindel. He was a white horse whose pace was light and smooth but swift. Glorfindel rode Asfaloth using a saddle with stirrups and a headstall studded with jewels."

I doubt any Elf has my hips and thighs...
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. I live in Island Bay which is pretty much the suburb right next to Newtown where the audition will be. If I was accepted and had to sign some secret agreement it wouldn't matter, I'd tell everyone here everything lol. Wouldn't that be the best thing ever though? I'd get to see what the costumes are like and maybe even one of the epic sets that are built... Thanduril's place maybe? I could be part of the battle of the 5 armies!! If I ain't sexy enough to play an elf then they better keep my application so I can be a goblin atleast.

any of the battles of middle earth....if there is one I missed it. None are mentioned at the Battle of Five Armies. A little digging shows: http://www.freewebs.com/tbarchive1/DiscussingMiddle-earth.pdf Discussing Middle-earth: Elf Cavalry By Grimhelm of Snowbourn Elnaith "Conclusion To recap, I believe that the Elves of the urban centres at Nargathrond and Gondolin used heavy cavalry during the Wars of Beleriand. The Elves of the plains of Hithlum used lighter cavalry. By the time of the Last Alliance, they used light cavalry to create wedge formations, which may be described accurately (if not canonically) as “Elnaith”. By the end of the Third Age, the Elves of Rivendell only used riders in small numbers or for scouting, and did not engage in battles involving cavalry." In the distant past there is evidence of elven cavalry....a very interesting development if true to the Dol Guldur plot. Or, it may just refer to a few riders.

This almost has to be connected to the White Council's attack on the stronghold of the Necromancer. There was no mention of Elven cavalry at the Battle of the Five Armies.

Could just be some mounted guards in Mirkwood. It's possible, but none of them are described in the book as being mounted. It is written that the Wood-elf king rode out towards Lonely Mountain after learning of Smaug's demise, so his personal guard probably rode horses as well. And, we don't know what forces took part in the attack on Dol Guldur other than the White Council itself. My best guess is that there were Sindar elves from Lothlorien, a number of Rivendell elves, a unit of Rangers from the north and perhaps a unit of Wood-elves (led by Legolas?).
