Misty Mountain Moot

I am proposing a moot for the week preceding and including Labor Day weekend to help out 'Misty' with what she can give us to help her out at that time. As it turns out it is a bit of landscaping, for a small army. Just the thing for us Tolkien hobbit folk, planting trees and assorted greenery i think. So far she has an army of 3. I know it is the weekend of the Atlanta moot but for those unable to go for one reason or another, me being one of them (also one of them sorely missing being with them) could find a way to make it up there. My wife, son and i will be up there from saturday to saturday afternoon as it is now(being we planned to take that week months ago). But there will be other things that we am planning to do which are whitewater rafting and renting canoes and/or motorboats on that 14 mile lake. Misty says if she fills up there is a nice place across the road with 10 rooms. I believe there is an art exhibit to see during that month in the area. So i will now give you a message that she sent me. "I am wide open for that week. All three cabins combined can accommodate a total of 9 people (2 in cabin #1, 4 in cabin #2, and 3 in cabin #3). Each cabin is $65 per night -- pets are welcome also! I would LOVE to have so many members of TORn come stay as guests. I fully expect the cafe to be open by then and I would certainly make an effort to bake something special just for your visit! I am grateful for your offer of help but there isn't a whole lot to do anymore (after this weekend, anyway). However, in the fall, I hope to completely redo the landscaping and I imagine it will take a small army to do it in one weekend. If there are folks interested in signing up for this project, I will be happy to offer free rooms or meals in exchange for a few hours of manual labor. My landscaper (my friend's husband) does not want to do anything drastic until summer is over. When I know when the planting will happen, I will let you (and the board?) know the dates. When you are ready to make a reservation, you can do so through the website by clicking the "Check Availabillity" link and following the directions. Or you can just email me and I can take care of it for you. Thanks so much for your kindness and support. I hope you will be able to visit and I can meet some of the wonderful folks who have followed my story these last few months. " Please join us if you can and join our 'army' or rohirrim would be the more appropiate(romantic) 'colloquialism'. You all would be most welcome. And it will be quite a lot of fun too i expect:).
"Tolkien, like Lewis, believed that, through story, the real world would become a more magical place, full of meaning. We see its patterns and colors in a fresh way. The recovery of a true view of the world applies both to individual things, like hills and stones, and to the cosmic - the depths of space and time itself. For in sub-creation, in Tolkien's view, there is a "survey" of space and time. Reality is captured on a miniature scale. Through stories like The Lord of the Rings, a renewed view of things is given, illuminating the homely, the spiritial, the physical, and the moral dimensions of the world." Tolkien and C.S. I love the community that built up on TORN's discussion boards - and I can just imagine a whole passel of hobbit-like folk beautifying the frontage. Good on you. :)

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. What a wonderful idea, though, to help out a TORnsib at the same time as you moot. Leave it to you, Sil! Of course, I have a black thumb and would probably hinder more than I'd help, but I would still do my best. If it were closer I might have made a day trip, but it's just too far for that. *Sigh* I hope that anyone and everyone who can make it goes. I'll be watching to see all the fun!

I will of course be at WootMoot in Atlanta that weekend - and I'm very sad that you won't be making it now, Sil - I had hoped you'd be with us. This, however is a great idea and I hope lots of 'sibs manage to go. I demand pictures!! I'm especially keen to see MM's cafe! Good luck with getting this together.

I wish the timing were working out differently for my family, so we could join you up there! We expect a "tour" of the bakery, of course . With any luck, the fall "planting moot" might be possible - and that would be a lot of fun!
