Happy 2011 from TheOneRing.net

Dear reader - Welcome to 2011 and TheOneRing.net. We have been around for a while now but this is an exceptionally exciting time heading into a year that will finally see the production of 'The Hobbit' start in earnest. 2010 was pretty eventful in dramatic and difficult ways. With lots of J.R.R. Tolkien books on our shelves along with our Middle-earth inspired movies, it will be fun to follow the production again as Peter Jackson, Weta and Warner Bros. move a reportedly wonderful two-part scrip from the page into digital 3D (also available in 2D!) The year ahead will bring us plenty of news, ideas, rumors and fun. While many media outlets world wide will jump on the Hobbit news-reporting bandwagon, we will stay right here in our well-worn and comfortable seats and enjoy the ride. We look forward to the experience along with you, dear reader. As always, TORn remains not-for-profit and forged by and for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien so thank you all to your past and future contributions and support. This is going to be fun!

What an apt description. And what fun to sit back with old friends, welcome new ones, and enjoy this exciting ride. Looking onward to 2011 reminds me of when I was back in school and the summer holidays slowly but surely came around - I'd look forward to the endless days of fun stretching ahead of me I feel like prancing around each time I see the date on my laptop because the year (finally!) shows "2011" It's the Year of the Hobbit indeed!

It really adds to the overall experience of being a Tolkien fan. It's great to talk, debate, agree and disagree with others who are as fond of the material. Hope this next year will be really good to you all and I can't wait for all the exciting things ahead!
Gives it to us in glorious 2D!

I love those Geek pendants that Badali Jewlry makes. I have that one, or the Ringer one, or both. Hmmm, I may have to go dig out my geek pendants to see what I've got, cause now I'm curious. And I can't wait to read and experience this whole Hobbit ride this year.

Is that TORn pendant available?

I didn't see it on the Badali site. I do have the old white T-shirt that TORn put out years ago, and even though I have other TORn shirts, it's the only one that seems like a "club t-shirt". That pendant is cool. I have really enjoyed being a part of TORn for all of these years, and have met many good friends here. I look forward to even more fun in the coming years as "The Hobbit" takes shape. Happy New Year, all.

but whether or not they're still available is the question. I'll betcha if a bunch of us order one, they're print up some more. I just ordered the TORn geek pendant, but am getting it as a keychain. Follow the Badali link in this homepage article from 2005: http://www.theonering.net/...th-badali-jewelry-2/ When you get to their homepage, type theonering.net in the search box. It'll show the pins from the Oscars Peter got, but scroll down and you'll see the TORN pendant and then the TORN geek pendant. You can choose to have them as keychains, too :) I believe if we go through the TORn homepage links to Sideshow, Weta, Badali, etc., TORn gets brownie points for being the link.
I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

So I'll contribute to keeping it right where it is. It's fun to think of all the other sites and newspapers/magazines that will clamour for info while we've been here all along. Golly... where do you think they'll go for their source material ;) Happy New Year TORn. My home inside my home. *raises glass* THIS PLACE ROCKS!!

Every few hours I realise 'Whoa! It's 2011!', and after a while I forget all about it again. This will take some getting accustomed to...

I am always stuck in the previous year... I always miswrote the current year as "2009" last year for instance.

Bustin' makes me feel good!! I do believe if our honorable friend continues to scrape the bottom of the barrel for objections he is in danger of getting splinters under his fingernails. Have you heard nothing of the stubbornness of dwarves and their elf instigators? The dark spybot will not avail you, flame of Ubuntu!

geeky me stood there and giggled. *shakes head* I got the keychain so I could hang it off my purse (along with NZ silver leaf) or change to a pendant.
