Love Lord of the Rings? Love slot machines? Now you can combine the two! It looks like Spotlight 29 Casino in the Coachella Valley has added 10 new penny slot machine games to their line-up, and they include the brand new LOTR game:
Lord of the Rings has taken the J.R. Tolkien trilogy and created an innovative experience that utilizes the latest gaming technology. The player will embark on a mission through Middle Earth and complete different levels of the storyline through wins. "Adaptive Gaming" technology allows control over the spinning reels during a turn, while "Sensory Immersion" incorporates chairs with Bose sound systems to complete the illusion you are traveling with Frodo and friends through the elements of Tolkien's fantastical world. Read on for further details. [Press Release]

Discovery channel or History Channel, I think it was. I wonder if these could possibly be the same ones--this was rather long ago. As someone who doesn't gamble, except the odd scratch off or two, I'll bet these are not "penny" slots.

So, gaming technology, a spinning chair, and a Bose sound system can take you to Middle Earth...

Funny, I thought the way to do that was to read some books, or watch some films made about them.....

Hi all, Besides being a huge Tolkien fan (duh), I'm also an active member of the virtual pinball community over at vpforums.org. With those LOTR gambling machines, the 2 websites have crossed paths because I have seen this machine emulated within the pinball emulation software. Check it out at: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=8423 Even better, if you want to play the suberb STERN 2003 Lord of the Rings pinball machine on your PC, then head out to: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=2469 The setup of virtual pinball can be somewhat of a hassle, fortunately there are auto-installers available at the forums: click at "getting started" in the left-top side of the welcome screen at www.vpforums.org The pinball machine has a lot of voice and music samples from the movies, the art work is also straight from the movies and the machine itself plays really nice, a deep ruleset and wizard mode that is called "Valinor Multiball". I have yet to reach "Valinor", it's real hard to do. The dot matrix display (where your score is tallied) features some of the best work that can be done with such a display. Have I mentioned a Balrog-toy that can swing onto the playfield, blocking a ramp where you can launch the pinball through the One Ring? Anyway, it's worth checking out! Greetings, Ancalagon
