I have a MySpace page, but it's brand, spankin' new (less than a week), so it has very little, and gets very little traffic. I'd love to have more visitors, however. As my first post says, I'm just egotistical enough to want people to notice me. A little bit. http://www.myspace.com/nativedenver I also have a blog on Vox, which is slightly more traveled (though probably not much more interesting...). http://mallika.vox.com/ Vox is sort of cool, so have a look.

I get waaaaaay too many posts in my LiveJournal Friends page. Is there any way to delete individual posts without taking someone off my Friends list? I don't want to get rid of them completely... it's just some posts that I don't need and they're taking up an awful lot of space.

Well, actually, you can be friends with people, and then only read a couple people like, all the time... I have no idea if basic/free accounts have this feature (some anonymous user has been buying me a paid account for 2 years now.. flattering, if not slightly creepy), but there is this very nifty feature called "tracking". So if you have like, 150 friends like me, and don't have the attention span/time to read through all of their entries/are only really interested in a couple people, what you can do is go to a user's profile, and at the top with all of the other icons you can click on the little grey tack (when you hover over it it says 'track this!'). So, you click on it, and you can even choose what you want to track, and you can choose if you want to get email notifications for it (I would recommend not choosing this option). And, when you get a update from one of the people you are tracking, you will have at the top of the screen "Messages (# of messages)", right under your username. And then when you read it, you can delete it! *g* Like I said, I have no idea if this feature is available to everyone. Can someone with a basic account tell me if everyone can track? It is seriously way helpful for people who forget to check their friend's list all the time *g*

My LJ, where I am much more personal about my life and update way more often. http://ainu-laire.livejournal.com/profile I usually put new art up there, as well as pictures (usually under a cut), and I will be documenting my trip to China up there, too :) And I will make a report about ORC up there... and the general evilness known as high school... or just completely random stuff (one post I made was short letters to items of the household, which amused the masses... can't imagine why...) And then my MySpace, which I use to keep in contact with family and friends... and I use to talk with people on the LOTR communities there XD http://www.myspace.com/ainu_laire ... basically, if you want to find me on the internet, type in "Ainu Laire" or "ainu_laire" on Google. Or even "Suvi Laire"... you may get a couple sites saying that Laire is Quenya for Suvi, but otherwise, no other Suvi in the world has discovered this fact, so it's only me *g* It's great having a username no one else in the world has snatched

Over on livejournal I'm 'silver_nyssa', and (much like ainu laire) I have never run across that name taken by someone else, so if you ever see a 'Silver Nyssa', it most likely is me. I post everything on there, stuff from school, Narnia updates I find, book/movie reviews. Sometimes RL stuff, but you have to be on my friends list to see that. And I'm on myspace, but I only use that for school.

But I'll go ahead and post it again for anyone who can't get past that pic of Elijah I'm dianne_the_geek on LJ and everywhere else that I am. A lot of what I post is just costuming stuff and memes, and I friends-lock almost everything else these days, but ya'll are welcome to friend me if you like. I'm avoiding MySpace for as long as I can. I already have two email accounts, my geocities site, my LJ, a facebook account, and dozens of websites and groups that I visit daily. I don't feel that I need a bigger web-presence and another account to check at the moment.

My MySpace is the very exciting http://www.myspace.com/17741954 (I should get a proper name thing there someday), on Last.fm I'm LuthienRising, and my Flickr is flickr.com/people/Lu_ . I'm actually less of a social networking junkie than *some* people I know. One friend of mine reinvented his website as a spot to gather all his social networking sites together. I didn't even recognize some of them.

Wow, somebody else in the world still likes Faith No More! I read your myspace and discovered our musical tastes have a lot of similarites - Chris Cornell among them. Well done. In fact our tastes in music and film and the written word have some strong parallels. Since we share an appreciation for some books and music, I think I better recommend author "George R. R. Martin".
Once upon a time I was MrCere. I still am but this name is for posting and being part of the community while that one is for official business. 8-)

A couple of my friends were on mySpace, but they decided it was "of the devil" (their words) and moved to someplace smaller. I really like it, but I tend to keep all of my posts on a network setting. I don't really want just anybody there to read my stuff. I've been thinking about joining LiveJournal, but I haven't gotten further than that. I have been wishing for a place to let out my geekiness, my RL friends don't quite understand it. And I know that I would know lots of people that post here and there... There are not many places online that I feel comfortable enough to just comment or post. I've never had worries about posting here.

Hmmm well I am on LJ having signed up recently. If anyone wants to know who I am they can drop me a PM and ask :) MySpace is an awful place. I find it too tacky. Add to that the terrible site design (really, its *that* bad, I'd be ashamed if it were mine) and the horrendous personal pages some people have coupled with the music that blares out when you open them.... Yes of course I want to have my senses damaged by terrible songs when I open webpages. Lovely! And then I am blinded by some glaring colours and flashing pictures and mess. I cannot bear it. Really, words fail me. Well they don't but if I rant on, I'll bore you :p

I haven't, but I know the show, and I believe I know what you are implying. I've heard enough horror stories. I'm careful on the net. I haven't ever given my phone number, address, or other such things out. I am not an idiot teenager. I have been contacted once by a guy on MySpace, but I immediately reported him, and he is now gone. I *do* have common sense and I *do* know what I am doing. If I ever do meet someone from the internet, it has been at a convention, where I have either my 6'4 father or a group of friends with me. My parents know of both my MySpace and my LJ, and I know they read it from time to time, and they do their parenting job very well- neither of them are idiots, either. I thank you for your concern, if that's what that was.

I've always been blown away by how grown up you are; much more than I was at your age, or for a decade afterward, I think. If I didn't know better, I'd guess you were 35. I hope that doesn't sound condescending. Not only do you have more artistic talent in your little finger than I'll ever hope to have, but you have a lot of wisdom, and you're so articulate. You're the kind of person my husband would call an "old soul". (I'm guessing that was concern, BTW. But it sounds like you're completely on top of things.)

That is hardly condenscending; adults are, for the most part, more experienced and have more common sense than teenagers, and you are not the first person to think I was a lot older than I am. Back when I was 13, one person thought I was at least past college until we exchanged photos *grin* But I have seen the complete idiocy of my age group, so I really cannot blame anyone thinking I may be like that. I see it every day in my school, or at least hear stories that make me shake my head. Thankfully my complete geekiness wards off most people who could be classified as dangerous, or even just stupid. And anyone who means bad who isn't warded off by that finally goes away when I hit them with my cruel, cold logic. *cackles and coughs up a hairball* But I thank you for those words. I have always acted older and I have always gotten along with adults better, for the most part. I was better friends with the nurse in my elementary school than anyone else. Most of my online friends are adults, and that is how it always has been. It is just how my brain is wired, I suppose. And I can't really say that I don't mind. Frankly, it's awesome. *g* Now, I better stop before I babble up a storm. *hugs*

Yes, I know I was out of line asking this, but it is something people have to be aware of. What I think is creepy is, why does someone want you on line so badly he or she is willing to pay for the privilage. I didn't mean it as a critism, only concern for a very nice young woman.

Ah, I see. Well, anonymous donations are not unheard of at all; many of my adult friends have gotten them, too, and LJ is only like, 5 dollars for 6 months or something like that. I honestly don't think it's a predator, frankly because none of the warning bells have gone off, and I don't think anyone would stalk someone for two years and not try something by now. Frankly, to me, it would make no sense, and still no one has asked me for personal information. I don't know when I'll be able to reply to this thread again because I am leaving for China *now*. Not sure when I'll see the internet again. But I thank you all for your concern, though I am sure I am fine, and if anything *does* happen, I'll call the police. Or my dad. Both are pretty scary ;) *goes to the airport*

Well, I've been into Faith no More since the early 90s (my spiritual home) and love em still! Chris Cornell has to be my favourite singer ever as well. I've been pointed to George R R Martin before, by Isis a while back, so I guess I'll have to check out A Song of Ice and Fire. Cheers!
