Apparently they're collaborating on it. I'm not sure if Peter's involvement only goes as far as Weta doing the animation, or if he will take on a larger role. It seems to be Spielberg's baby though. It seems Peter's keeping himself busy anyway.

Spielberg another, and hints of James Cameron for the third. He's invited them to see all his 3D stuff, of which he is a big proponent.

I loved Tintin when I was younger - totally devoured the books. I'm not surprised at all that they decided to do three back to back ones - each book (there are at least 20) could be a fun movie. The 3-D motion capture bit makes me a little nervous, but they do say they want to be true to the original feel, so I'm sure it will at least be better than if they had tried to do live action. I think I always kind of hoped to see classically hand drawn animated Tintin, but I'll keep an open mind. I wish they would show us the 20 minute sample video that was made - that would be cool!

They used to show on Sunday mornings here in the UK. I think it was done by a French company.
Can I just go on record and say I hated Tintin, so I'd be no impartial judge of how it was done.

to this DYNAMIC DIRECTOR DUO as they've finally found their way to each other! Can you even imagine the magic that'll come from this!?
It just thrills me to have what must have been a dream come true for Peter... to actually be working with Spielberg... another very cool guy.

Do you hate the books too? I confess I haven't read them in ages, but I did like them when I was younger. I think I've seen part of the cartoon, maybe, but in my mind the voices were totally wrong. I could just be making that up though.

I have been reading Tintin as long as I can remember. I hope bringing him, Capt., Snowy, Thompson & Thomson and the professor to the big screen works out well!!

The cartoon was annoying because Tintin was such a simpering do-gooder, it could well have been the voice... I guess that was true for the books as well. My favourite was Captain Haddock... Maybe I just preferred Asterix and Obelix beating up the Romans... Simple things please simple minds!

I did watch the cartoons, though I don't remember much about them.
I also want Peter to start work on the Temeraire films as soon as possible.I hope he adapts the first book and directs it because that would set the tone for the second and third books.I'm hoping that the first film won't be on the backburner for too long because I'm dying to see PJ's take on such a wonderful world filled with dragons, honour, friendship and devotion.
The fourth 'Temeraire' book is published in September and the fifth in March next year.I can't wait for both

I have to admit, I didn't have a clue who or what "Tintin" was until I looked it up after perusing this thread. I'm not entirely sure it ever made it to my section of the New World. From a quick Wikipedia review, I'd have to say that I'm having a hard time getting excited about this project. Still, I'll keep an open mind on it, seeing as how I respect the Makers. *grin*

Big Asterix and Tintin fan - still am. I LOVE to go and spend time (and money!) in the Tintin shop in Covent Garden. I have a brilliant image up in my office of Tintin, Captain Haddock and Snowy looking greatly offended as Bianca Castafiore sings the Jewel Song. I have a hard time not making the same faces when I sit through some auditions... I also have Tintin t-shirts, a Snowy toy and other collectibles. So yeah, I'm a fan, and I'm excited to see the film. I hope they have a good voice for Tintin though - I can't stand his namby-pamby voice in the cartoons. I always thought Tintin was actually rather sexy - very heroic and great hands... (but perhaps that's just me!!!) - so he needs a voice to match. Ewan Macgregor, maybe?
