So is there going to be an announcement or what?

I thought there was supposed to be an announcement of some sort today. I've been watching TORN and lordoftherings.net all day, and nothing. Please tell me the announcement isn't the LOTR trilogy on Blu Ray because that would suck.

There has to be some other big news, at least I hope there is. The Blueray was not anything big, we all knew about it already. I hope it's casting news!!

I don't even care if it's casting news. I'd be happy if they released the titles of the two films! Anyone else tired of "The Hobbit I" and "The Hobbit II"?

Maybe the big announcement is that there is a holiday sale at the Official Lord of the Rings Shop. You can save up to 50% OFF!

I know the world will not stop turning, but I think its low rent for them to announce something and not come through with it. I'm still holding out for a late night announcement, I just dont see why.

With this delay and previous delays I hope we getting something really good. And for making us wait I am looking forward to Comic-Con 2010 I sure hope GDT surprises us with something. Because right now things aren't looking to good.

Why do you say right now things aren't looking to good? Besides this announcement thing, there's no problems that I can see.

When did the Facebook button appear on lordoftherings.net? I visited yesterday as well, but only noticed it today. It's so small I could have easily missed it though. The FB page seems relatively new as there's only about 150 fans and the material is mostly about the blu-ray release. I was expecting the big news to be a website launch, but I was hoping it would be a proper site and for the Hobbit...

You think that someone who just registered on this site will have anything real to announce? Any official announcement will be on the Home Page, and cross-posted here.

Not a huge deal one way or another. As GDT said, news will come up when things are more concrete (i.e., both scripts approved and budgeted).

Shooting was delayed a few months. We should have gotten Bilbo by now.

... shooting wasn't delayed, it's still on track to start April / May. And the release date hasn't been delayed. Just because we haven't been told who Bilbo is doesn't mean things are bad.

Both Jackson and Del Toro have said that they'd prefer potential Bilbo candidates to have the chance to read both finished scripts. It's only fair, and is certainly reasonable, considering the sacrifices those actors would have to make in order to shoot two, huge films back-to-back. We'll get casting news all in due time.

A date isn't set, sure, but then again that's two years from now. They are shooting to finish by that month and year, though, so a release date isn't essential by this point.

Tintin is already scheduled for 12.23.2011 so one more film that week and The Hobbit could ace some competition. It needs to set a date so other movies will keep far away from it.
