Welcome to everyone going, or thinking of going, to the Radio City FOTR concert! The purpose of this post is to provide one place to go for general Radio City information and updates, (since the original discussion thread is far too big now to be able to easily find all the pertinent information). The information below is up-to-date as the date of this post (August 8). Future updates (after general clean-up this weekend) will be in red font for at least a few days, and the “Current as of” date will change. In addition to this post, be sure to check the official concert site for updates too, and continue general discussion in the sticky thread deej started. The links will be updated as their updates occur: Smeagirl/Girllum has been keeping a list of attendees Grammaboodawg has been 'mapping' the seating location of anyone who lets her know where they're sitting (updated 10/04/09) In addition, there are a number of TORn message board alumni, at least 10 members of Barliman's Chatroom and around 10 other TORn staffers and/or folks who are Howard Shore/Doug Adams fans who don't frequent the message boards. Other Information and Links: (current as of 8/8/09) Doug Adams' blog: http://themusicofthelordoftheringsfilms.blogspot.com/ From a recent entry: "once you plant your flag in Middle-earth, it's always your home. A question about reserving tour slots

Just wondering, I filled in the reservation thingy, but it didn't mention a plus one anywhere. Should I do it again separately for Neil, and if so, what if he got a different time to me, seeing as we had to fill in two slots? Anyone else tried doing it for more than one person?

(and surely you must) It says right on the registration form that you have to make a request for every person going. So, you'd have to do it separately for your plus one.
A separate registration form must be submitted for each registrant. I would guess that you just have to take your chances and go separately if that happened. Or maybe switch with someone you found that had one your times. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to get a slot in the same time.

Altaira, Is Doug Adams still Friday? I saw on his website that he said something about 10-2 on Sunday. Additional or moved? ---Tamara

At the moment, we only know two presenters but more will be announced and I would expect Doug could be one of them. This is not the book signing though. He, up to this moment, has not announced the book signing time. However, about two hours ago, he just tweeted:
Radio City schedule is in. Announcement coming soon.
So, I'd watch his blog for an announcement.

My travelling companion and I are trying to schedule the Fordham exhibit Sat or Sun, David Salo, and still make a 1:30 pm Sun flight from LGA scheduled before the panel time was switched. Any guidance? A Beecake ticket for Saturday will ride on the order of appearance Sunday.

If you're wondering what I know about Sunday, here's what I can tell you. A few days ago, Doug posted the news that the panels had been moved from Saturday to Sunday (I think TORn posted that news first). When he did that, I posted this on his blog:
Not that the world revolves around me... but I hope the best of the bunch is first in the day. Unless I can change flights, I can't stay past noon.
And he responded:
And I certainly wouldn't attempt to dictate your schedule or plans!... But it currently looks like the "big" events, such as they are, will be at the end of the schedule. I'm sorry I can't say more. In fact, I really wasn't supposed to say that. :)
So. I don't know who or what will be the 'big' event. I only know that I can't be there unless I'm willing to pay a hefty fee to the airlines. I can't, in good conscious, do that to our budget. So, this is where I suck it up and play the big girl and try not to be too disappointed. As I said, I expect announcements soon. Like, real soon. I'm watching Doug's blog a little more closely than usual although news has erupted here as quickly as it has at his blog. So Altaira might beat him to the punch if something clicks into place.

is 1) who are the confirmed panelists? 2) what is their order of appearance? I too cannot change my ticket and will be a big girl. However, if the panel schedule is unworkable for me, then I might try Fordham at 9 or 10 am Sun (instead of Sat) and go directly to LGA. And the Fordham places will fill soon, so I'm anxious and eager. ElanorTX

Doug's book signing and Confirmed Panelists

Magpie is correct: no time has officially been announced for Doug's book signing. The last I heard they were planning at least one for Friday. However, I've also been told to 'stay tuned.' Since I haven't had any official updates, I haven't changed that on the schedule yet. Confirmed panelists according to the official concert site are David Salo and artist Colleen Doran. Our own greendragon and a friend, Corey Olsen, are also going to do a presentation on "The Music of The Hobbit." Aside from that, I can't imagine they wouldn't have Doug do something. Also, at one time John Howe was going to bring some artwork. Finally, I can venture a guess (though I don't know for sure), that the big events at the end might be an appearance by Howard Shore and/or a chat or message from Del Toro. The Sunday event is scheduled to run from 10:00 to 2:00. They have a lot to fit into four hours!

I'm sure Doug is gutted, but it will still be a wonderful weekend. I'm hoping he does a book tour, and I'll get to see him when he does the Chicago stores.

...means: to carry on a legal contest by judicial process There are lots of legal processes and issues that do not need to involve litigation. Adoption is a legal issue that does not involve litigation. My husband saw a lawyer before starting his business with an active partner and an inactive partner. That was a legal matter that did not involve litigation. Someone might get power of attorney over a family member who becomes incapable of managing their affairs. That's a legal issue that might involve litigation but can also take place without litigation. One lawyer's site that says is area of practice is 'non-litigation' lists: - Special Projects - General contracts, Acquisitions, Mergers, Infrastructure and energy, Joint ventures, Investments, Financing, Consultation.
- Corporate and Retainer Services - SEC practice, General consultation.
- Immigration - General consultation and Bureau of Immigration practice.
- Labor - General consultation, advice and opinions.
- Intellectual Property - Intellectual property (trademarks, trade names, patents, and copyrights) acquisition, maintenance, and protection
- Advisory Services – Transactions (accounting valuations, fundraising, bid support/defense, due diligence, economics, buy and sell, modeling and business planning, private equity and privatization, project financing, structuring, tax valuations, etc…); Business solutions (governance risk and compliance, financial effectiveness, etc…); Crisis management (dispute analysis and investigation).
I'm sure that Voronwe could answer this question way better than I. "What sort of legal matter would not involve litigation?"

FRIDAY NIGHT ANNOUNCEMENT: SWAP TABLE AT THE MIX-n-MINGLE PARTY

Do you have LOTR items that are duplicates? Do you love most your LOTR collectibles, T-shirts, etc., but some you don't love as much? Are you looking to fill in some gaps of your LOTR stuff? Do you want to eliminate some of your LOTR items to make way for Hobbit stuff? Will you be going to NY for the FOTR concert in a few weeks? Have we got a deal for you. We are pleased to announce that the Friday night Mix-n-Mingle party will have a Swap Table that is open to everyone who will be in New York that weekend. Dig into the back of your closets, clear off your shelves, bring your LOTR items and swap with your fellow Moot-ers. Not going to the party? Never fear - you are still eligible to participate. All you need to do is give your Swap item to anyone who is attending the Friday party, and consult with them about the items you are interested in acquiring. You are responsible for delivery of all Swap items. We have a few items that generous friends of TORN have contributed, and they will be added to the Swap Table. We are expecting that anyone who takes an item from the Swap Table will also contribute something. Whatever is left at the end of the evening is first come, first served. We will also have a fun, challenging Trivia Contest with some outstanding prizes, but if you happen to win one of those prizes, and it's not as outstanding to you, of course you're welcome to add it to the Swap Table. The Trivia Contest is open only to those in attendance at the time the winners are announced. Questions? Please respond to this message, or send a PM to: CAHobbit, deej, entmaiden or greendragon.

Since we have so many TORN folk who are unfamiliar with New York, here are some suggestions for things to do. See Altaira's main post above for all the group activities, including a possible Circle Line tour and visit to Ground Zero. Note that travel time must be considered.
