Tonight's LOST... (spoilers)...

I don't get it... the patched guy... isn't he supposed to be dead? This episode was pretty blah as far as I'm concerned. The reveal at the end isn't really a reveal. They're trying to make people go with that whole "it's a dream" or "they're dead, so this must be limbo" theory. Yeah, right. Like I'm going to fall for that. I hope next week's episode lives up to its promo... just don't make Sawyer go all psycho and back him into a corner where he has to be killed off. And John? For Pete's sake, is that the best they could do with his character?! This whole pining-after-Daddy thing is getting real old. Just shoot the old coot and get on with explaining why he can walk, etc. Or at least they could've had him fall in love with Juliet and follow the Others because of her rather than that little gnome that's supposed to be calling the shots. Oh please. Like I'm going to believe an island full of people would give up their will and power to this guy without at least one of them trying to take him out. Hmmm... but then again... there was Jim Jones... And enough with this new Jack already... can't stand him... let's get rid of the blonde and get back to the Jack/Kate/Sawyer triangle the way it used to be. I'm really starting to not give a hoot about them. I am enjoying the "Charlie's going to die" thing. I just wish there was more comic relief with him and Hurley.

I absolutely loved this episode! The flashbacks were outstanding. I'm completely in awe of the acting skills of Yunjin Kim and Daniel Dae Kim. As for the Jack-Kate-Sawyer triangle, good riddance! It was getting old before they were even done with it. As for the blonde, Juliet is now one of my absolute favorite characters; I hope she sticks around as long as the series lasts. As for Mikhail, well, there were rumors that he wasn't dead (because his chest was still moving in the last shot of him), which obviously turned out to be true. As Mikhail himself notes, injuries behave differently on the island. What, no speculation about the Italian girl? I'm not taking the ending very seriously -- It's clearly just a tease. About Jim Jones, a personal sidelight — I knew someone who drank the Kool-Aid at Jonestown. She went to my high school and was in my unit one summer at Girl Scout camp. She was very "maladjusted," as they used to put it, and I have to say, I was surprised but not totally surprised when I heard the news. That said, I find Ben a lot more charismatic and compelling than Jim Jones. Another great character! Will we ever get his real backstory?

We're never going to get everybody's backstory before the end.

I like Sawyer and I like to see his character fleshed out. Juliet... bah... cry me a river. I would have preferred to have Sun be pregnant by someone on the island (which I thought is what Sawyer did to her when she was grabbed) and then have Jin go ballistic on him. The Italian girl? Meh. She was sent by Desmond's girlfriend to find him, which is why she wasn't aware of the other castaways. I'm not surprised that she's surprised that they exist... if the Others could control their environment and those they ensnare from the outside, why not everything else? It's not such a stretch that they would find a way to make the world believe that the plane had been found AND the "bodies" of all those on-board. I wouldn't put anything past that weasel Ben... who's really starting to annoy me. I'm surprised Sawyer didn't just off him when he had the chance. He thought he was going to die anyway, so why not get one last lick in. I guess Ben has the Voice of Saruman to his advantage. Hmmm... come to think of it... this smacks of LOTR... maybe if they re-cast LOTR with the LOST castaways, they'd get... Aragorn - Jack Boromir - Sawyer Eowyn - Kate Sun - Arwen Merry - Charlie Pippin - Hurley He he... instead of the Eye of Sauron, there'd be the Smoke of Sauron.

I would have preferred to have Sun be pregnant by someone on the island (which I thought is what Sawyer did to her when she was grabbed) and then have Jin go ballistic on him. You really were hoping that Sawyer had raped Sun? And Sawyer is your favorite character? We definitely could not be watching two more different shows! Fortunately for me, the show I'm watching seems to be the one they are intending to make! Actually, I'm getting tired of Sawyer; I wouldn't mind if they killed him off soon.

I'm enjoying this season much more than last and last night's episode wasn't bad. Hurley and the flare gun made me laugh. I like Sun getting all tough with Jin's mother. Not crazy about eye patch guy coming back (did anyone else wonder how Jin chased him for a few minutes yet they ended up back next to the injured woman?!). I really dislike Juliet, actress and character (she only has one expression...even when it changes, it's the same smirk), but it works in the context of the show and keeps it interesting. I still like Sawyer and like him and Kate together.

Theory about the Flight 815 spoiler at the end... and other stuff..

The Others knew the plane went down, and via their communications array, they knew all the details in the media. They no doubt knew that the world would keep looking for the crash site until they found it. Obviously, Ben and company don't wish to be found. I bet the home organization generated some random aircraft debris and doctored it to appear to be part of Oceanic 815. Scatter it at the deepest part of the Pacific along the intended flight path. The wreckage is found, and the depth of the water makes it believable that the main part of the plane is missing and there are no bodies to ID. The world assumes a tragic accident with no survivors and stops looking. Theory #2--Is anyone besides me starting to wonder if Desmond is in cahoots with the Others? Or does he just have his own agenda? I thought this was a great episode: I always thought Jin was abused by Mr. Paik because he married Sun. Now we know it's largely retribution for the money Sun borrowed. I'll never really understand the need for honor in many Asian cultures. So what if my Mom/mother-in-law was a prostitute? It's not worth the money and stress of being blackmailed. I also found it interesting that Sun knew what her father does. She should have known what he would do to Jin.

... preferred that Sawyer had got her pregnant. It would have been a great reveal at the right moment, just when everyone thought he had turned into this great guy and then *WHAM!* all heck breaks loose. Kill off Sawyer? I hope not. Otherwise it'll just turn into another "Swiss Family Robinson" show for me.

Any family would be reluctant to have anyone know something like that about a member of their family, whether they be in a position of power or not. Not everyone is open-minded and the backlash can be devistating. Besides, I think she wanted it kept quiet because she feared her father would use it as more ammunition/leverage against his son-in-law.

How would he have raped Sun when at the time that she was dragged by Charile, he was with Kate in his tent? How could he possibly when he was with Kate up until the time that they heard and found her?

I already admired the actress Elizabeth Mitchell before she joined the show, and I think she's done an outstanding job. I'm afraid I have no idea what you mean by "one expression" -- I find her to be a very expressive actress. Excellent casting seems to be a common denominator of my favorite shows. For example, I don't think I would watch "24" if the casting were not so great. (On that show, I'm continually pleased to see favorite actors from other shows turn up -- most recently, the admirable Jonathan Adams, who was Henry Walker on the prematurely canceled "American Dreams" and was replaced this season in the cast of "Bones.")

In a season 2 dvd bonus featurette packaged exclusvely with an issue of TV Guide the producers revealed that it was just a small thing that was deleted from the first season finale. It supposedly showed Vincent in his cage being loaded into the plane and was only one short scene like all the other characters small flashbacks at the airport in that episode. Nothing special, so when word leaked that we'd see Vincent at the airport it became a deleted scene. Another reason it was deleted is because wasn't really tied to the plot. My guess is the people who built the foot statue will be a focus next season in the way the others were the main focus of season 3.

I dunno, even when she smiles or is sad or is mad or whatever, I still see the same underlying expression. Not to be too hard on her, though! I do think she's well cast here.

This whole time when he was talking to Karen i was thinking I've seen him before somewhere. Now i know. I love Juliet as well and although i see what one expression is that one expression is really intruiging. It's a lot of the time but when she gets the chance to act (like in her first flashback episode) she can really so a wide range. (the difference between what she was like off the island and on the island was huge)
