The Arkenstone - Sources Concerning Can't Post

Hey all, are there any sources on the Arkenstone of Thrain other than the Hobbit and LOTR Appendices? I find it fascinating yet there seems to be little concering this gem.

So Frodo Baggins boarded the great ship and passed on into the west till the sweet fragrance on the air filled his sense and the sound of singing came over the water. Then it seemed to him that, as in a dream, he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country. The third age of Middle Earth was over, the days of the Rings had passed and the story and song of those times was at an end.

Grab a copy of History of The Hobbit [In reply to] Can't Post

Specifically, the second book, "Return to Bag-End", for Rateliff's discourse on the origin of the Arkenstone, and how its development in The Hobbit relates to the stage Tolkien was at, in his writing of The Silmarillion (pp. 603-609, "The Arkenstone as Silmaril").

Some discussion of the Arkenstone took place here recently in this thread below. Take a read through it!

I think you'll find some of your questions answered there, and it will no doubt lead you to more questions to ask here!

"It struck me last night that you might write a fearfully good romantic drama, with as much of the 'supernatural' as you cared to introduce. Have you ever thought of it?"
-Geoffrey B. Smith, letter to JRR Tolkien, 1915
