A Salute to the 10th Anniversary Team!

Please join me in a round of applause for everyone who made this weekend a success. 1. First, over 25 folks worked in a group process through yahoo over the last two months to set the stage for all the fun…not only in creating the threads that you saw all over the boards, but in helping to figure out everything else that goes along with something like this. Here they are: Home Page and Fiesta and too many other things to list – Altaira Main Games Leader – Dernwyn Pollantir Leader -- Entmaiden Moot Leader – Deej Feedback Leader – Jazmine VIP tributes and Feedback Leaders – Silnedor and Kelvahrin Double Board Leader – Gramma (Hobbit and LOTR movie) Double Board Leader -- Earl (Hobbit and Off Topic) LotR Movie Board Leader – Rivendweller Hobbit Board Leader -- Stapper Reading Room Leaders – A.S., Sador, Inferno Fan Art Leader—Ginger Arena Leader—Aunt Dora Gaming/Collecting Leader– Arwen_Undomiel Provider of old posts for multiple boards -- Inferno Technical Help and Footer Queen – Magpie Valaquenta – Alassea Eruvande and Daniel Reeve Moral Support and Special Help – Elven, Garfeimao, Greendragon, Lossefalme, Mar, MrCere, Orcbane, Ohio Hobbit, Smeagirl Coordinator – Weaver
2. There were also many of you who added other things to the weekend than what we had planned, or who worked with the leaders above apart from the yahoo group, or who did things you never told us about to help – and so a big pat on the back for you, too. 3. And, of course, if the rest of you did not join in and participate it would not have been a party! So count yourselves part of the team as well! Final thoughts... I think the idea for a Founder’s Day started in June of 2008 – it was really great to see so many jump on board with the idea and help and support it, and to have it come off so well and to have it mean so much to our “founding four.” Thanks everybody for a grand time, and looking forward to our 2nd Annual Founder’s Day and 11th anniversary celebration on April 26 next year! (If you have ideas on what to do next time or want to sign up to help now, please reply here or PM me-- thanks!)

This was a truly splendid party. Very well done, all of you!
Silverlode "Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them. Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you." -On Fairy Stories

I think you'll need them after all the running around you've done to make the party such a huge success. Well done to all of you!

Wow! What a HUGE success this has been - I never imagined it would be so awesome, and I'm only sorry I missed so much of it. (Darned RL.... ) What a brilliant, weekend-long fiesta. Thanks so much weaver and your team for creating such an amazing celebration - a worthy tribute to this amazing site and its Four Founders. It is too kind of you to include me in the 'moral support' list; I'm ashamed that I didn't find time to do anything concrete, but instead just reaped the benefit of everyone else's hard work! I'm honoured and unworthy to be mentioned in such a team! BRAVI TUTTI - and thanks.

And to everyone else who made the weekend so incredible. I was mostly a slacker who read some of the yahoo posts but not most of them, and said OK to starting the arena thread, but didn't volunteer on my own. And a special thanks to Magpie for her brilliant reply to my arena post, which made the arena party much more special than it would otherwise have been.

*wild applause* I have had THE BEST WEEKEND!! You guys have outdone yourselves - it has been such a weekend to remember! This is what its all about - a collective of quality and quantity - a rare experience - a wealth of fantastic friends and a feast of posts and threads. Ive had so many laughs and surprises! I'm still running around here trying to catch up on things .. Ive lost 5 kilos, and wore a hole in my sneakers and I think I may have burnt my eyes looking at the screen for so long - what the heck! It was worth it and I'd like to thank my computer for behaving herself throughout the long hours of me screaming at it to upload quicker. You guys are amazing. Thankyou for such a wonderful weekend. Cheers Elven x

And now it's time for gramma to wade in with the book passage about the day after Bilbo's party, when gardeners came with wheelbarrows to remove those who had inadvertently stayed behind, and forgotten bags and handkerchiefs, and the uneaten food (a very small item). Thank you all for organizing a party of such magnificence!

*Deep bow* What a whizz of a co-ordinator. Weaver is a very applicable nic imho; because she is a weaver. As the dictionary says [weave] ''To bring together so to form a whole;to weave fancies into theories. From an athletic bend (which i was much a part of early on) champion teams are a result of the heart and actions of the head coach even more so than the players whatever there talent. So i will just say, i love you coach. I play for you any day:)
''What connects Nature to the spiritual, or requires the presence of the latter? In positive terms, as Alkis Kontos points out, when nature was still largely experienced as integral, alive and active, 'It was the spiritual dimension of the world, its enchanted, magical quality that rendered it infinite, not amenable to complete calculability; spirit could not be quanified; it permitted and invited mythologization.' And I would add, it still is and does.'' Patrick Curry-Defending Middle-Earth-Tolkien: Myth and Modernity - chapter: 'The Sea: Spirituality and Ethics.' May the grace of Manwë let us soar with eagle's wings!
In the air, among the clouds in the sky Here is where the birds of Manwe fly Looking at the land, and the water that flows The true beauty of earth shows With the stars of Varda lighting my way In all the realms this is where I stay In the realm of Manwë Súlimo

Thank you so much, everyone, I have spent this past weekend being amazed and delighted at everything that was done for this Celebration (and will still be trying to read through everything when next weekend comes! ). You are truly a most eloquent, creative, persevering, and supportive fellowship, and the talk of this Celebration will not die down in nine or ninety-nine days! Especial thanks to weaver, organizer extraordinaire, and Altaira, who somehow managed to keep the PTB at bay until the moment was right! And sil and Kel, who'd respond to my PMs with "we're working on something secret and we can't tell you" and a lot of giggling - you two pulled off a miracle! You are the most wonderful bunch of Tolkien aficionados/geeks/things to work with!

Entmaiden, OhioHobbit, Elberbeth, and Kel, thank you so much for volunteering - and Ataahua and Stapper, thank you for adding to the fun! {{huggles to all!}} And Altaira, I know you got overly-busy with some things (I wonder why? ) and Main got overloaded with lots of great posts - so, could we take a "rain check" on that Bilbo's Brainteasers, once things quiet down a bit? Pretty please?
