Whatever happened to the trees?... Can't Post

I was just surfing through another Tolkien site and I just remembered something...

Whatever happened to the trees we TORn sibs pitched in for to be planted in New Zealand as a thank you to PJ and the LOTR alumni? I would love an update on them.

Hmmmmm [In reply to] Can't Post

I believe they were planted. I seem to recall a couple of TORnsibs made the trek to see them planted. I know certificates were given to each fellowship member as well over a year or mores time. That's all I can recall.

Perhaps someone has some links to the reports that were done on the whole thing.

Thanks... that would be great!... [In reply to] Can't Post

I was actually wondering if any TORn sibs had been to visit the trees lately and taken any pictures so that we could see how they were coming along.

Thanks from me, too, Ataahua :) [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been kinda waiting to see if any of our intrepid adventurers had a chance to visit them. It's definitely one of my stops WHEN I get there ;)

Me neither, deej [In reply to] Can't Post

BG and I wanted to go see the trees, but the park they're in is a bit of a trek from the city center of Wellington and not really convenient by bus. Since we were only in Welly two days, one of which was taken up by a tour of Weta Workshop and one by the Rover Rings tour, we had to pass. Frown

I know other sibs have visited them since they were planted, I just can't rememeber who or when. Thanks for checking on our Entings for us, Ataahua. Smile

A response, of sorts. [In reply to] Can't Post

WCC gets points for responding to an email within one working day, but I *hope* they get back to me with details sooner than 10-15 days!

This is what I've received:

Thank you for your email on Monday 2 April requesting an update on the health of the Lord of the Rings kauri trees that were bought by theonering.net (TORN) and planted in Willowbank Park in Tawa, and also information about any other developments in the area around the trees.
We have forwarded your enquiry on to our Parks and Gardens Team for their action. We expect your information request will be responded to within 10 - 15 working days.
Here is the Tawalink.com link to Willowbank Park: www.tawalink.com/willowbank.html

I'll let you know when I hear anything more from them.

Points for responding, fersher! [In reply to] Can't Post

... but it takes 2 to 3 weeks (workdays) to look? I'll bet it won't take that long :) I'm counting on a geek either knowing straight away or bee-lining it for a look-see.

Thanks lots, Ataahua :D

Here are some Links from the project [In reply to] Can't Post

Started by WhiteAslan back in 2004. I hope all of these work. They're the reports by Estelwyn and Delyth and then some links from TORn's scrapbook. There's also a map of the streets and location of the park.
