Congratulations Karl Urban! Can't Post

The man who brought us Eomer last night picked up a Best Supporting Actor award at New Zealand's Qantas Film and Television Awards for his role as policeman Nick Harvey in the movie Out of the Blue:

The gripping re-telling of the 1990 Aramoana massacre, Out of the Blue, swept the movie section of the awards, picking up six awards including best picture.
Matthew Sutherland and Karl Urban picked up the awards for best actor and supporting actor for their roles in the popular movie.

Well done Karl!

(Click here for the full story.)

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Hooray [In reply to] Can't Post

I thought he was wonderful in Out of the Blue, as was Matthew Sutherland. It must have been a tough film to make.

Karl's acceptance speech was very gracious.

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

congrats [In reply to] Can't Post

Haven`t seen the movie but the award makes me wonder if he`s like Heath Ledger - doesn`t work in action leading men roles but does a great job in meaty supporting ones. Don`t kill me for being honest but I thought he was terrible in Pathfinder (zero charisma, zero acting chops) and forgettable in LOTR but I also thought Ledger was awful in A Knight`s Tale, Four Feathers and forgettable in The Patriot. However, he was amazing in The Dark Knight (Oscar-worthy!), Brockeback Mountain, and that movie whose name escapes me for which Halle Berry won the Oscar. So maybe KU also needs a well-written character to show what he can do. Congrats!

Karl Urban fan [In reply to] Can't Post

I too thought he was good in Out of the Blue - and obviously LOTR,

I can't wait to see him as Bones McCoy in Star Trek - but it's not released until next year!

Hi Starling [In reply to] Can't Post

A mini-moot sounds good. I've been a bit out-of-control trying to juggle a job and a couple of projects. Am surfacing for air!
